Hello dear friends! Alexander Berezhnov is in touch.

As you already understood from the title, today we will talk about getting a job, namely well-written resume. There is a lot of literature on the Internet on this subject, but I did not find a clear and understandable instruction. Therefore, I offer my instructions, compiled according to an accessible and simple algorithm.

Be sure to read the article to the end - in the final you are waiting for download!

1. What is a resume and what is it for?

If you still do not quite understand what a resume is, I propose to give it a definition:

Summary- This brief self-presentation in writing Your professional skills, achievements and personal qualities that you plan to successfully implement in your future job in order to receive compensation for them (for example, in the form of money or other type of compensation)

I myself in the past had to write a resume when applying for a job. Indeed, without this, no employer will even know about you and your professional skills.

I remember when I sat down to write my resume for the first time, it took me a lot of time to competently compose it and arrange it according to all standards. And since I like to understand everything thoroughly, I also studied the issue of its correct spelling very deeply. For this, I spoke with professional specialists on personnel and studied a large number of articles on the topic.

Now I know how to write a resume correctly and I will gladly share it with you.

I share with you samples of my resumes, which I wrote personally for myself:

(you can download them for free)

Thanks to my ability to write professional resumes I have never had difficulty getting a job. So my knowledge is reinforced practical experience and are not dry academic theory.

So what's the secret to writing good resume? Read about it below.

2. How to write a resume - 10 easy steps

Before moving on to the steps, I want you to remember 3 main rules for successful resume writing:

Rule number 1. Write the truth, but not the whole

Focus on your strengths and don't talk too much about your weaknesses. You will be asked about them at the interview, be prepared for this.

Rule number 2. Stick to a clear structure

The summary is written on 1-2 sheets, no more. Therefore, try to briefly and succinctly state in it all necessary information, even if there is a lot of it.

Take care of the accurate formatting of the resume text, its structured presentation. Since no one is pleased to read abracadabra.

Rule number 3. Be optimistic and cheerful

Positive people attract success. In your case - new job.

So, let's move on to the structure of the resume.

Step 1. Resume Title

Here you must write the word "Summary" itself and indicate to whom it is drawn up.

All this is written in one line.

For example: CV Ivanov Ivan Ivanovich

Then your potential employer immediately understand who owns the resume. For example, you have previously called a company you are interested in in order to find out if they still have this vacancy open. You were given a positive response and offered to send a resume.

At the end of the first step, your resume will look like this:

Step 2. Purpose of the resume

It must be remembered that your resume must have a purpose. Correctly formulate it as follows (phrase):

The purpose of the resume is to apply for the position of an accountant

Since at this moment you are called that - an applicant, that is, a person, job seeker, potentially claiming it.

At the end of the second step, your resume will look like this:

Step 3. Applicant and his data

At this point, you must write the following:

  • date of birth;
  • address;
  • contact number;
  • e-mail;
  • Family status.

At the end of the third step, your resume should look like this:

Step 4. Education

If you have several formations, then write them in order.

For example:

Moscow State University, 2005-2010,

Speciality: accountant (bachelor)

Moscow State University, 2007-2013,

Speciality: translator in the field of professional communication (bachelor)

At this stage, your resume should look like this:

Step 5. Experience

Please note that the “work experience” column is written in the resume starting from the most recent place of your work, if it is not the only one, and starting from the period spent in this position.

For example:

Job title: chief accountant's assistant;

Job title: accountant

So we have already written half of the resume, it should look like this:

Step 6. Job Responsibilities

This item in the resume is not always required if the vacancy you are applying for is quite common, and you have occupied similar position at a previous job.

Sometimes this item can be included in the previous one by writing your job responsibilities immediately after the position.

Step 7. Achievements in previous jobs

The item "Achievements" is one of the most important in the resume! It is much more important than education and even work experience.

Your potential employer wants to know what exactly he will pay you wages for. Therefore, it is very important to mention when writing a resume about all significant achievements in previous jobs. At the same time, please note that it is correct to write in words that are the so-called "markers" for employees personnel services reviewing your resume.

For example, it is correct to write:

  • increased sales volumes by 30 percent in 6 months;
  • developed and implemented new technology into production;
  • shortened equipment maintenance costs by 40%.

Wrong to write:

  • worked to increase sales;
  • took part in a project to create a new technology;
  • reduced equipment costs.

As you can see, it is also important to write specific numbers, as they very clearly reflect the essence of your achievements.

Now your resume looks like this:

Step 8. Additional Information

Here you need to describe your strengths, professional knowledge and skills that will directly help you to better and better perform the tasks assigned to you at a new job.

Usually they write the following:

  1. Knowledge of computers and specialized software. This is true for office workers and employees whose direct work connected to PC. For example, for designers, accountants, programmers, office managers.
  2. Proficiency in foreign languages. If your future job involves reading, translating or communicating in a foreign language and you speak it to a certain extent, be sure to write about it. For example: English spoken.
  3. Having a car and driving skills. If your work involves business trips and you often have to drive a car, for example, while working sales representative, then you should indicate the presence of your car, as well as the category of driver's license and experience.

Thus, in additional information, along with computer proficiency and a foreign language, write: I have a personal car, category B, 5 years of experience.

Step 9. Personal qualities

There is no need to describe too many qualities here, especially if they do not apply to your future work. You can be a kind and sympathetic person, loving children and respectful of your friends, but a potential employer will not be interested in reading about your “cordiality” and rich inner world.

For example, if you are applying for the position of an accountant, then it would be good to write here: composure, attentiveness, punctuality, efficiency, mathematical mindset, ability to analyze.

If you apply for a more creative profession, say a designer or creator, then you should indicate here: developed creative imagination, sense of style, non-standard view of the problem, healthy perfectionism.

It will be great if you mention your full name at the end of your resume. and positions of your former managers, as well as indicate their contact numbers so that your potential employer or his representative can verify your professionalism by receiving feedback about you from your former direct supervisors.

Even if your potential employer does not call your former supervisors, the mere fact of having contacts for recommendations will significantly increase his confidence in you.

At the very end of the resume, you must indicate when you are ready to start working, here you can also indicate the desired level of remuneration.

The final look of your resume:

Congratulations! Your resume is 100% ready!

“Most companies-employers and recruitment agencies in Yekaterinburg, when searching and selecting candidates for vacant positions, require applicants to submit a resume. And on how competently it is drawn up, it will depend on whether your employer will be interested in your candidacy or not. Remember, a resume is compiled according to certain rules, ”says the director Recruitment agency "Rakurs" Alexander Bezrukikh.

Alexandra, are there any dynamics of growth in the quality of resumes. What is it connected with?

- Observed. This is due to the fact that various articles and recommendations for writing resumes on websites and in printed publications, there were automated forms for compiling resumes. I would especially like to note that well-written CVs began to appear from candidates for production vacancies, as well as for vacancies in the auto business (previously, CVs of drivers, adjusters, locksmiths consisted of 2-3 lines).

What is the best program for writing a resume?

- It is better to write a resume in standard programs Word or Excel. Because many hiring managers work with automated databases that do not accept other formats. A summary written, for example, in the form of a video presentation, will not be perceived positively in all companies, because not all organizations have established the necessary software, and this is not always appropriate.

It is important that the text is easy to read. If the summary is presented in the form of a continuous text, without highlighting subsections, paragraphs, then it is quite difficult to perceive it. An exception can be made for a journalist's resume: here, a free presentation of information is possible, allowing you to evaluate the style of the author. If the summary contains italics and bold type, tablets, this is only a plus.

Do you need a photo?

— A photograph immediately gives some idea of a person, but it is not obligatory for everyone. For example, it is better to attach a photo to a secretary, sales manager, because for these professions it is important appearance candidate. And for the driver, loader, storekeeper, appearance does not matter.

How do you respond to spelling mistakes and typos that applicants make in a letter?

- Attitude towards spelling errors is negative, especially for candidates applying for leadership positions (for example, in one resume: higher education "diploma with honors", English " I will transfer with Slavar»).

How big should the text be?

— Standard resume: 1 page, for management 1-3 pages.

- There is an opinion that an experienced recruiter evaluates a resume in a matter of minutes. To what extent does this opinion correspond to practice, what is decisive in the matter of inviting or not a person for an interview?

- Resumes are evaluated really quickly. The telephone interview with the candidate will be decisive for the invitation to the meeting. And in order for a telephone interview to take place, it is simply viewed whether the information indicated in the candidate's resume fits the requirements for the vacancy.

What actions should a candidate take to follow the fate of his resume?

- It is necessary: 1. Call and find out if the employer has received a resume, what time it takes for him to consider 2. Then you can contact the employer and find out if the resume is participating in the competition for a vacant position.

How do you feel about the column "personal qualities"? Does she need?

- In this column, you need to indicate the qualities that help you perform your official duties, and not everything in a row (sometimes they list those that contradict each other).

We invited Alexandra Bezrukikh to analyze one typical resume, pointing out its shortcomings:

Kuznetsova Ksenia Sergeevna Age: 23 years E-mail: [email protected] Wishes for future work
  1. Position: architect, designer, landscape designer;
  2. Work schedule: full time;
  3. Salary: from 20,000 rubles.
experience
  1. Experience in creating projects in the field of urban planning, warehouse complexes, landscape design;
  2. Experience with design and estimate documentation;
  3. Experience in creating general projects;
  4. Experience in booklet creation.
Professional skills
  1. Experienced user of Photoshop, CorelDRAW, ArchiCAD, 3D MAX;
  2. Ability to conceptual non-standard solutions;
  3. Professional knowledge in the field of architecture and design, I draw well by hand;
  4. English language - average level;
  5. Experienced PC user (MS Office, Internet, E-mail).
Education
  1. 2003 - 2008
    SEI HPE "Ural State Academy of Architecture and Art", specialty "Architect" (bachelor).
additional information
  1. The ability to self-learning;
  2. sociability;
  3. Ability to achieve the set goal;
  4. Willingness to travel;
  5. Portfolio attached.

Resume analysis:

1. Personal and contact information:

Full name, age, e-mail are indicated. You must add your date of birth and contact phone number.

2. Wishes for future work:

It is very good that the candidate listed the vacancies he is applying for and the work schedule. But the level of salary is better to indicate at the end of the resume.

3. Experience:

Instead of work experience, the candidate lists professional skills (it is possible that this candidate has no experience with formal employment). It is necessary to list dates, company names, professional duties.

4. Professional skills:

Instead of skills, the resume lists additional information and personal qualities.

5. PC ownership is best listed on one line., not two (remove the line from "additional information").

“The ability to conceptual non-standard solutions” is not a professional skill, it is better to move it to the “personal qualities” column.

"Professional knowledge of architecture and design, I draw well by hand." This proposal is not well-written (listed completely different qualities as homogeneous constructions in a sentence). "Professional knowledge in the field of architecture and design" can not be written in the resume, because. the candidate has a higher professional education from UrGAHA. “I draw well by hand” can be left in the resume as additional information.

"English - Intermediate". Move additional information to the column. Clarify what is meant by "medium".

6. Education:

The paragraph is well-written. It is better to remove the number "1" if no further transfers are planned.

7. Additional information:

Leave in this paragraph “Readiness for business trips” and “Portfolio attached”.

Select the column "personal qualities", in which to list "sociability" and "ability to achieve the goal"; The subparagraph "the ability to self-learning" was compiled with an error, we advise you to exclude it, or correctly paraphrase it.

So let's sum it up:

A well-written resume should reflect a certain structure. Each of its points must be disclosed optimally:

1. Purpose: In this paragraph, you need to clearly formulate the vacancies for which you are applying.

2. Contact information: address, contact phone, fax, e-mail, ICQ, full name

4. Personal information: gender, age, date of birth, marital status, presence of children.

5. Education: dates are written first: from what year to what year did you study at the educational institution, then - its name, faculty, specialization, specialty, form of education. If you have graduated from multiple schools, they are listed in reverse chronological order. If the applicant is still a student, indicate the expected year of graduation educational institution, as well as the schedule of sessional examinations.

If a person attended advanced training courses, has additional certificates and certificates, permits to work with various equipment, etc., they should be listed after basic education. If you only graduated from high school, then in the education column, indicate: “complete secondary”.

If you received additional education- write about it in detail, indicating the place of study. For example: English language school for beginners, 3-month courses in English.

6. Experience: it lists previous jobs in reverse chronological order (3-5 jobs). We do exactly the same as in the column "Education". First, the years of work in the organization are written, then the name of the organization (it is desirable to indicate the form of ownership: LLC, CJSC, OJSC, etc.) and the type of its activity (each employer is looking for an employee familiar with a particular field of activity). Then the title of the position, as it appears in work book. After that, it is necessary to describe the job responsibilities and achievements, you can also indicate the reason for dismissal.

7. Knowledge of a personal computer: you must list the computer programs that you own.

8. Additional Information: the knowledge necessary for a device for a specific position is indicated (for example, knowledge foreign languages and degree of ownership; driving license, category, own car).

9. Personal data: describe yourself as a person

11. Wishes for salary: indicate the starting salary (the minimum amount with which you would be ready to start discussing cooperation) and the desired salary (the amount you want to receive after the probationary period).

It is desirable that the summary occupies one, maximum two pages.

A few tips. Before sending your resume to employers and recruitment agencies:

  1. You need to check your resume for spelling errors;
  2. In the event that you are going to send out emails, it is better to indicate the name of the vacancy for which you are applying in the “subject” column;
  3. Do not forget: all the information contained in the summary must correspond to the goal (see paragraph 1).

Common mistakes when writing a resume:

  1. Spelling mistakes;
  2. The absence of one of the components of the resume: work experience, education, the vacancy for which the candidate is applying is not indicated, there is no telephone and contact information;
  3. The date of the resume preparation is indicated (more than a month ago before sending the resume);
  4. The resume lists several vacancies for which the candidate is applying;
  5. Instead of work experience, the candidate lists job responsibilities;
  6. The periods of work with a particular employer are not indicated;
  7. In the “personal qualities” column, the candidate simply writes all the words that came to his mind at the time of writing the resume;
  8. Places of work are listed in direct chronological order;
  9. There is a lot of information in the resume that is not related to the vacancy and work (for example, long discussions on a free topic in the amount of ½ of the resume);
  10. When sending a letter to e-mail it is clear that the candidate sent his resume to several addresses at once;
  11. The subject of the email says "resume" instead of a job posting.

The summary has three sections which, when properly presented, create the effect of live communication with the employer . They are the main advantage in your favor, fully reflect your professionalism, strength of personality and understanding of the interests of the employer. These are sections such as " target", "professional skills ", "personal qualities ". What is the secret here?And the secret is in the logic of your actions aimed at mutually beneficial cooperation with the employer!

How it works?

Target- this is your global vision of the process of investing your professionalism in a certain business structure, your motivation, intelligible explanation of their own position. The goal should be the fundamental basis for the further structure of the resume.

Professional skills is (remember geometry - theorem proving) confirmation goals and a more detailed description of their own professionalism.

Professional skills are followed by a section on professional experience, which, logically, serves only as an intermediate link for proving the existence and deciphering your professional skills (what exactly we practiced / did, when, where and how), so that it becomes clear to the employer that with xx .xx to xxx, in the manufacturing company "X" you were engaged, for example, in the supply of production, where you received, for example, the skill of interacting with Chinese suppliers, learned how to maintain relationships with direct manufacturers.

Personal qualities- this is what should logically complete the created structure, and serve as a "proof of the theorem".

How to do it?

Personal qualities should be the last proof because:

a) your psychological picture speaks of a purposeful choice of profession;

b) The description of the character corresponds to professional skills and logically completes the topic;

c) The personal motives you describe fit perfectly with the intended goal.

Now the details...

To get started, decide on purpose, imagine what kind of company you would like to work for and what value to bring through your activities. To do this, you need to focus on the end product of your work. What are you doing? What are you a pro at? The final product of a fisherman is a caught fish, of a builder - a quality and timely delivered object. And what can you show off, for example, if you are a secretary, accountant or manager? Here, in no case should the emphasis be placed on the current process of activity as such, attention should be focused on the benefits of your stay in the company , that is, move away from the final product. Only this way the employer will be able to make sure that you understand your purpose for his organization. For example, if you are a system administrator, it would be nice to read in your resume:

Target- Work in a promising, developing company interested in a well-functioning IT structure.

Desired activity: organization of uninterrupted operation of a computer network, as well as all specialized programs and the Internet. Optimization and creation of maximum convenience for users, which should ultimately help to reduce the time spent by users and focus them on the main tasks as much as possible.

See? The system administrator does not list here how he will do it, he does not list his "functionally current, incomprehensible fuss", he says, WHAT HE GOES TO DO for the organization, which means that he understands his own purpose and the end product of his work.

Also detailed and available can describe the goal of any specialist who does not strive to take a more comfortable place (which employers do not like terribly), but is going to bring real benefits with his professionalism and knows how to do it. Therefore, think about how you can create value for the organization, then smoothly and in a language understandable to the employer describe the final product of your activity. In no case do not list in this section the functionality that was performed earlier, there are other columns for this, for example, "professional experience".

Target - this is what you are striving for now, what you are counting on, what you may be dreaming about. The employer has the right to know your motivation, plans, wishes for a future job, and you have the right to openly declare this. Therefore, in the section target"You can also indicate the motivation and reason for looking for a new job, since in any case this question will be asked to you at the interview in the first place. Wouldn't it be better to immediately dot all the i ?!

For example:

Motivation / wishes for a new job:

Worthy wage the opportunity to grow and improve your professional level, interesting projects, registration according to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation.

Reason for looking for a new job:

Desire to implement the knowledge gained at last place training (unfortunately at the last place of work they were not in demand), the search for opportunities for the most productive use of my rich experience in the XXXXX field. And most importantly - the desire to be a sought-after specialist, to be useful, working with maximum efficiency.

Do not think that the resume should fit on one page, the lazy ones came up with it. Let it better contain complete information, the most important thing is that what you write is easy and interesting to read. That's the main attraction and zest.

Earlier in the section target it was customary to write only the position you are claiming, and not for the benefit of perception, but simply for brevity. But, excuse me, how can you explain your true goal with just the title of the position?! Especially if in ten different companies there may be ten different functional options for this position. Therefore, we will not do anything bad to the employer if we specifically and clearly explain how we understand this very position and what functionality we put into this concept.

Now let's recap...

You clearly and correctly described the goal. A start. But that's not all. Now your task is to make the resume logical and easy to read. To do this, it is necessary that the goal containing your global tasks flow logically and smoothly into other sections, which will serve as confirmation of the correctness of your choice.

How to achieve this?

Next section - career objective .

The position must fit the purpose ↔ professional skills (next section) should fit the purpose and be evidence that you have enough tools and ways to achieve the intended goal in your arsenal ↔ personal qualities should serve as a logical conclusion.

More about the section "professional skills"

What is the difference?

Professional skills are what you can do, and personal qualities are what you are as a person with its potential.

Here is an example of how to competently and logically describe professional skills

Logistics specialist with a high level of English. 8 years experience in this field.

Key skills:

Building optimal logistics chains for the movement of goods, developing strategic decisions, developing logistics schemes taking into account increasing competition, determining the tariff policy, skill successful sales and purchases. Knowledge of INCOTERMS, TNVED, as well as all transport documentation for international transport. Work in the program "Platinum-server", 1C, theoretical knowledge of SAP, KPI, ERP systems.

Show no weakness, since this is nothing but a demonstration of infantilism and helplessness. That is, you can describe your strengths as well as weak sides in the same section, but never be frank , write only what can be useful for the cause.

An example of a description of personal qualities:

Ability to think analytically, build diagrams and predict business processes. Developed intuition. Mobility. The ability to quickly find and establish the necessary contacts and connections in an unfamiliar environment. The ability not to lose control crisis situations. Energy. Purposefulness and perseverance. Business orientation. The ability to quickly see "your" team (talented youth) and the ability to motivate it and quickly train it for the tasks of the project.

Another example:

I consider myself a promising, novice specialist who can be useful and in demand for the company. I have everything for this necessary qualities: loyalty and observance of the interests of the company, patience, perseverance, striving to achieve goals, reliability. Responsible for official duties I will always come to the aid of colleagues and meet the leader. I am ready to invest my efforts in a company that is just as loyal to its specialists and is ready to invest in their development. I prefer long and fruitful cooperation.

A similar style of presentation has recently entered the employment environment and is already appreciated by employers.

Applicant: requirements for future work

The list of requirements for future work presented by applicants is very diverse. Most applicants first of all pay attention to the amount of remuneration offered by the employer for their work. The main requirements for future work also include wishes for a future position, schedule and place of work.

The requirements for a future position are made up of the title of the position entered in the work book of the employee, the nature of the work and functional duties worker. Undoubtedly future position must correspond to the profession of the applicant, his career goals. If the applicant's education and previous professional experience are in line with their career goals, this will make it much easier for the applicant to find suitable vacancies. But in the event that the applicant decides to change the field of activity and profession, it will be much more difficult to get a job. If, nevertheless, you want to try yourself in a new position, in this case it is recommended that you first try to get a job as an assistant or assistant, having previously studied the topic of interest at specialized courses or on your own. In addition, most likely at first you will have to give up your wishes for wages. And only after gaining sufficient experience, it will be possible to demand from the employer an increase in remuneration for work or to look for a new job with a higher salary.

For narrow and experienced specialists, the list of job responsibilities, independence in the implementation of labor functions, prospects for career growth and professional development.

The formal title of the position must match the actual official duties otherwise, when changing jobs, you will have to explain to the new employer the reasons for the discrepancies. In the latter case, letters of recommendation and verbal recommendations from a previous job will help. Applicants, as a rule, have a negative attitude towards the situation when the entry in the work book does not correspond or does not fully correspond to the functions they perform. The consent of the applicant to such work may be due either to a difficult situation and an urgent need for earnings, or favorable other working conditions offered by the employer.

Requirements for the schedule and place of work, of course, are very important. However, many job seekers are ready for overtime, irregular working hours, inconvenient schedules, long travel times to work, or the need to get to work by several modes of transport for the following reasons. Some are attracted by the offered salary, for which they agree to "recycle" or spend extra time on the road. Others - especially young professionals - strive for professional development, rapid development of the profession and career growth, for which they are also ready to work hard and travel far. There may be other reasons, for example, if there is no suitable job near the place of residence of the applicant.

Most job seekers seek to work in stable large companies. This gives them confidence in the future. At the same time, it should be remembered that in young dynamic companies, employees often have much greater prospects for career growth and promotion, and in small companies- Opportunities to expand their functional responsibilities and professional development.

Now oh career prospects. It is important to decide if you are planning career in this company or you will look for a new job after working in the company for some time and gaining the experience you need. The problem is that not all vacancies involve career growth or any kind of movement within the company. For example, if an employer is looking for a secretary, he is unlikely to hire a person planning professional or career growth, as this means that he will soon have to look for a new secretary. It should be remembered that some employers have a negative attitude towards the career ambitions of applicants.

Various social benefits serve as additional methods of motivating and encouraging employees. To payouts social character and social benefits include payment for food, transport, services cellular communication, vocational training, housing, health insurance, premiums, others additional payments.
