DIY crafts from scrap metal. Homemade metal products for sale. More complex products

Products made of various metals surround a person in many areas of his activity. For the home, these are decorative items, household items and garden tools. The use of metal objects in the industrial field cannot be described in a few words. In recent decades, do-it-yourself metal products have been created by many amateur craftsmen. Home forges became more and more common.

The most affordable type of metal processing, which does not require large expenditures and sophisticated equipment, is cold forging, which results in individual figures. And they are combined into a single product by welding.

Items created by hand by cold forging are presentable, they can be put up for sale. Therefore, this is one of the options for a profitable private business.

There are many other methods of making metal objects that deserve special attention.

Craft Ideas for Beginners

Before considering how to work with metals, it is worth dwelling on the ideas and drawings of possible crafts.

Metal crafts - decorations for any interior. Animal and plant subjects, monograms, geometric figures and national ornaments are popular.

A simple product for beginners will be a metal owl. It is made in many ways. So, rods bent into rounded shapes, welded together, form a wall stand for flowers in the form of an owl outline.

Sheet metal products by welding are made in this way:

  • a sketch of the product and its details are preliminarily prepared on paper;
  • transfer the pattern to a metal sheet, carefully cut it out with a grinder and clean the edges;
  • notches are applied with a chisel and a hammer so as to give the components the image of feathers;
  • a beak is formed, parts of the paws are cut out of the rod, and bolts are threaded into the holes under the eyes made with a chisel in the head part;
  • all parts of the bird are welded together;
  • clean the surface of rust with a chemical solvent and varnish it.

Protective or fences are decorated with floral ornaments, and a bouquet of iron roses can become an independent decoration of the room. For the manufacture of branches, flowers and leaves, cold and hot forging are suitable.

Leaves are cold forged from thin metal 3.5 mm thick, which bends well.

Briefly, the steps of the process can be described as follows:

  • a sheet of the desired shape is cut out of cardboard;
  • transfer images to a metal sheet, cut out with special scissors;
  • the edges are polished with a machine;
  • "burrs" are removed with a metal brush;
  • clean and polish the surface;
  • with a chisel, the veins are applied to the leaf plate;
  • the edges of the leaves and petals are made thinner by beating them with a hammer;
  • with the help of round-nose pliers, bend the edges and shape the products;
  • finished forms are fixed by spot welding on the branches;
  • paint the product or cover it with a special varnish.

Plant patterns made by high-temperature forging are stronger due to the compaction of the material. Use medium, hard and soft grades of steel. Those steel grades that contain the minimum amount of carbon - 0.25% are considered optimal. And they do not contain harmful additives - sulfur, chromium, phosphorus.

Crafts can be useful for giving, which you can make with your own hands from scrap metal.

For example, cutting the barrel lengthwise, shelves are mounted inside, and wheels are mounted to the bottom. The outer side is painted with bright paint. And the little locker is ready.

Cut across and painted, it turns into an unusual bedside table or coffee table.

Craftsmen decorate the walls of the barrels with openwork carvings, and then build a set for outdoor dining: a table and chairs.

From unnecessary garden tools and pipes create sculptures of animals or fairy-tale characters.

Summer residents love furniture from profile pipe made by hand. This material is practical, inexpensive, allows you to create many useful things: from furniture to a greenhouse. It is combined with other materials: wood and plastic.

For the manufacture of benches with dimensions of 2.3x0.6x0.45 m, a profile pipe of square section 0.03x0.03 m, with a total length of 11 m, is used. As well as boards with a length of 2.3 m, a width of 0.06 m.

According to the drawings of the products, you can independently make a bench with a back, as well as a greenhouse from a profile pipe with square and rectangular sections of 0.2x0.2m or 0.2x0.4 m. Considering that a rectangular pipe is suitable for a solid frame, and a square one for partitions .

Metal details of old mechanical watch, coins, paper clips, cans, cutlery, wire - material for the production of toys or jewelry.

Aluminum and tin soft metals convenient for making toys. To create a cat, a dog, a hedgehog, a crocodile and a dragonfly, you need to transfer the sketch to a sheet of tin, cut out the shape and bend it, as shown by the dotted lines.

Patterns that won't melt

The most common type of decoration of metal objects is the creation of patterns using hot and cold forging. They look both in the design of the facades of houses, and products for the garden.

Details of the drawing are made separately, assembled according to a pre-prepared template in full size. Fastening is carried out by welding or clamps.

Metal patterns for decoration choose various motifs. Architects distinguish the following styles in forging:

  1. Gothic - represented by figures with sharp silhouettes. It is characterized by shamrocks, thorns, lilies, precise geometric shapes, as well as notches, when one rod penetrates another.
  2. Romanesque - dense patterns of curls and curving branches, square section. The most recognizable detail is the wide trunk from which the branches diverge.
  3. Renaissance - rounded shapes combined with cast figures. It distinguishes two independent styles - baroque and rococo.
  4. Baroque is for kings. Pomp and intricacy. It contains flowers, spirals, curls.
  5. Rococo - does not have large elements. Patterns are transparent and airy.
  6. Classicism - broken lines intersect at right angles. The drawings are restrained and symmetrical. No curls.
  7. Modern - dominated by abstract forms. May include oriental ornaments. Contains a large number of curls.
  8. Hi-tech is the youngest style. It is characterized by geometric strict handicaps, lack of smoothness of lines.

Finished forged products are coated with paints for metal, highlighting individual elements in different colors. Today, craftsmen have learned to paint them using heat treatment during manufacture.

A scale of tint colors from yellow to purple is used by blacksmiths to determine the temperature at which metal is heated. The development of color depends on a very thin, a few molecules, oxide film on the surface. Modern masters learned how to manage metal colors and use it when designing a product.

The temperature will also help in creating frosty patterns from tin. The principle is based on its allotropic forms. Under normal conditions, it is white and is called the β-form. When heated to a temperature above 160 ºС, it transforms into a substance with a different crystal lattice - the γ-form.

In practice, the following happens:

  • a sheet from a tin, covered with a thin layer of tin, is brought to the flame of a candle and warmed up;
  • in places where the temperature rises, stains appear, which diverge in different directions with curls.

There are nuances in this process:

  • uniform heating of the entire sheet will lead to a change in its entire color without streaks;
  • enough spot heating - stains are formed in an arbitrary direction on their own;
  • overheating of the surface will cause the tin to run off - its melting point is about 232ºС.

However, the effect is beautiful and easy to make at home. A sheet painted in this way can be used to create do-it-yourself tin crafts.

Tin as it is

Tinplate is a type of sheet steel, up to 0.36 mm thick, coated with tin, zinc, chromium, varnish or other substances.

Tin or beer cans can become a source of material for do-it-yourself crafts from tin. Interesting household items or decor are easy to make at home.

Tin is well cut with scissors or a clerical knife, so you can create openwork crafts. Cutting off the bottom of the tin can and cutting out drawings on its walls with a knife, you get a lampshade for the lamp. It can be painted and mounted cartridge.

A simpler lamp will be the same carved lampshade, but with one bottom. Tin candlesticks will create a mood and ensure the safety of using open fire.

If a beer can with smooth walls is cut so that a rectangular sheet is obtained, then various shapes can be cut out of it. Flocks of tin birds, butterflies, fish will complement the motifs of interior design.

Metal Case Technologies

To create metal products at home, the following technologies are used:

  1. Casting is the technique of making things from molten metal by pouring it into collapsible molds. The method is rough. Does not allow you to receive products with high precision. Surfaces are rough. It is used for and production of household items and jewelry.
  2. Hot forging - high-temperature impact on a metal workpiece, followed by machining. The metal becomes plastic. The workpiece can be given any shape. The process is time-consuming and energy-consuming, requires special knowledge on the properties of metals. Get decorative metal parts assembled into products using clamps or welding.
  3. Cold forging - the impact on the metal by bending and crimping. The individual elements of the pattern are connected by welding. You can make small and large elements of decor for rooms, suburban areas, courtyards.
  4. Art welding is an art form of creating metal sculptures, jewelry and decorative details using gas welding. Heating is also used to color the product with tint colors.
  5. Bending (bending) - giving a curved shape to sheet metal, profile, pipe, wire when cold stamping. Manual bending is used to form homemade metal frames, for example, from old pipes.
  6. Difovka or knockout - is carried out by hammer blows on a cold thin sheet of metal (2 mm) to stretch it, shrink it and bend it. With its help, you can get jewelry, dishes, armor.
  7. Filigree and filigree are jewelry techniques that make it possible to obtain openwork patterns from twisted wire or solder it onto a metal surface.
  8. Chasing is a type of drawing a pattern on a surface by hitting it with a hammer, while between it and a metal plate, up to 1 mm thick, there is a tool that gives the desired shape. This technique decorates dishes, Jewelry and coins.

All of these techniques are common among amateur masters. But 3 main methods deserve special attention: cold and hot forging, as well as art welding.

cold forging

It includes two main methods of influencing the metal: pressing and bending. The first is the impact action, which leads to the compaction of the upper layer and the mobility of the inner metal workpiece. The second is bending it along certain lines, getting waves, curls, spirals, zigzags.

Metal products created by cold forging are beautiful, simple in execution, if the master has everything necessary equipment. The industry offers cold forging machines, however, they can be made independently, which will reduce the cost of the product.

The disadvantage of cold forging is the inability to correct errors. Such a workpiece will be considered damaged.

hot forging

Allows you to obtain a variety of items from ductile metal. Heating gives high plasticity to the material and the possibility of shaping it by force. Many methods of hot forging form a range of products for every taste.

When choosing this technology, it is necessary to consider:

  • availability of a forge and provision of fire safety equipment;
  • the final result depends on the properties of metals, not all of them can be forged and welded;
  • high cost of equipment and materials;
  • the effect of heating temperature on the properties of the workpiece.

Despite the shortcomings, the advantages of classical forging are in the variety and beauty of products.

A new trend that originated at the E.O. Paton, brought technical welding to new level- fine art. This is no longer rough crafts from scrap metal at their summer cottage, but a way to create masterpieces using welding.

Small figurines of insects or animals in full height, as well as gates - all these are works of art welding.

To work at home in this technique you need:

  • welding machine and consumables;
  • iron blanks;
  • inspiration and sleight of hand.

The main material is titanium, but the craftsmen talk about the possibility of working with zirconium and stainless steel.

Tools and equipment to help craftsmen

Any technology for creating metal products in a home workshop requires special tools and equipment. Consumable- metal (iron) billet - can be specially purchased, or be scrap metal. Metal objects that have served their purpose can certainly be found in any garage or cottage. Secondary metal processing is a promising environmental method that reduces the cost of the product.

To work in the cold forging technique, machines are needed:

  • torsion;
  • bending;
  • inertial stamping;
  • twisters.

Processing a steel blank by hot forging implies the presence of:

  • forge;
  • anvils;
  • shperakov;
  • ticks;
  • sledgehammers;
  • handbrake;
  • shaped hammers.

Also, for the layout of the final product, some of its parts can be machined on a lathe.

When working with sheet material, as a rule, you need:

  • scissors ordinary or metal;
  • knives;
  • chisel;
  • a hammer.

The main instrument of any creative work is a fantasy. Dexterity and skill will complement it, and then a real masterpiece will be born.

The owners of garages and country sheds often have the question of what to do with scrap metal that has accumulated in and around the premises. Decorative and applied art is the oldest kind folk art. Metal products have always occupied one of the main places in this sphere of human activity. Having mastered one of the types of craftsmanship of craftsmen, you can solve many issues related to metal waste.

In our time, people began to forget that in the distant past, in order to survive, it was necessary not only to skillfully use a sword and bow, but also to be a good master. Much had to be done by hand. What can be made from iron? As before, a person cannot imagine his life without metal products. As before, we want to have not only reliable tools, but also beautiful ones. Here you can not do without a skilled craftsman. However, any of us is endowed with original thinking and can become an artist. You just have to decide on it.

Every beginning is preceded by a choice. To choose, you need to know what options are available. Artistic processing of metal is a very extensive area of folk art. Here are the main types of this ancient applied art:

  • Artistic forging.
  • Chasing and making tinware.
  • Art casting.
  • Jewelry creativity.
  • Monumental art.

Artistic metal processing is widespread in Russia. Even under Peter I, the village of Pavlovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region was famous for the skill of its blacksmiths. The filigree products of the Yaroslavl masters of jewelry still delight jewelry lovers. And who does not know about the Dagestan and Ossetian masters of artistic coinage! Tula casting and unique creations of craftsmen from Zlatoust! One can endlessly enumerate the numerous centers of such art, which are distinguished by their amazing originality and uniqueness that captivates the eye.

The choice is very wide. Many novice masters try to embrace the immense, trying to master all types at once. However, it has been proven by time that it is better to take on one thing. Having accumulated sufficient skills, you can try the new kind art.

The best option is to become a real master in one of the above areas.

blacksmith art

The profession of a blacksmith is one of the most ancient. This is a job for real men, because to work in a forge you need not only artistic flair, but also not hefty physical data. Blacksmiths have always been a symbol of heroic strength.

What can you do with your own hands for sale in the forge. Here is a listing of some of the widely requested forged creations:

This is not the whole list of what can be created in a good forge. On some horseshoes, with the modern obsession of people with superstitions, one can live comfortably. But for blacksmithing, you need to have a forge equipped with everything you need. Of course, this will require significant capital investment.

All investments will certainly pay off if blacksmithing is taken seriously.

The most common and affordable area for DIY crafts for sale is, of course, chasing. Many tried this type of creativity when they tried to concoct a small picture from candy foil, squeezing a simple drawing on it. For work on tin, you will need a special tool, but it is much cheaper than a blacksmith's. In addition, a lot can be done with your own hands from old tools stored in the garage.

Sheet metal products require additional fixtures. In particular, a torch is needed to temper the metal. It can be a blowtorch or a gas stove converted for this purpose. You can not do this work without special cutters and chasers. In addition to all this, for processing coinage and other metal creations created at home, chemicals are needed for surface treatment and wooden blocks for attaching homemade products.

Many are wondering what kind of tin or metal can be used for coinage. Here the choice is up to the master. The material can be very different: from cans to metal profiles.

For clarity the simplest circuit production of coinage from a can. Do you want to decorate a decorative frame for a mirror with round metal rosettes? To do this, you will need several cans, scissors, a hammer, a small anvil, a sheet of thick rubber for a substrate, a stencil for a pattern pattern, a stack for extrusion, a coin for decorating the background. For embossing from thin tin, round sharp embossing can be made from a simple nail or screwdriver. So, the scheme of work:

In addition to coinage, you can make dishes from thin metal, various simple tools for the garden and summer cottages.

Casting and welding

When the question of decorative casting is raised, the first thing that comes to mind is tin soldiers. Really, tin and lead are obviously the most accessible types of material for such creativity.. In addition to soldiers, you can cast any figures and successfully sell them on the market. Having built a special furnace in your country house, you can start casting more amusing things from copper. An important condition for this is compliance with safety regulations. First of all, you should remember about fire safety, otherwise a profitable enterprise can become the main destroyer.

When it comes to casting, one can recall the monumental art of metal. Almost no artist can do without welding here. Any unnecessary metal trifle can become a detail of a future sculpture in a country yard.

Do-it-yourself welding of metal crafts today in a fashionable top. Nowadays, many people pay great attention to the originality of design solutions for country estates. Avant-garde sculptures of figures of the most unthinkable forms from scrap metal can be an excellent solution for such tasks. Weld seam in itself can serve as an excellent decor.

Each owner spends a lot of time thinking about how to embellish his home. At the moment, there is a gigantic choice of materials - wood or plastic, but in the first place is metal - one of the durable, strong, resistant materials in the world, which serves as an example and standard of metaphors.

History of occurrence

Metal products were most popular in Europe in the 11th century. Everywhere the facades of buildings, fences, decorative statues began to be decorated with unusual forging, and the profession of a blacksmith became an honorary and famous figure of the early Middle Ages.

What kind of craft can be made from metal?

Having thought it over well, the owner decides to present a piece of the unusual to his house, the question immediately arises to buy or do it yourself? Of course, do it yourself, because doing something with your own hands is an order of magnitude more pleasant and more profitable from a price point of view.

Today, forged ornaments for lattices, doors or fences are in fashion, and forged animals, a mysterious owl, or a Russian bear also look great in the garden. Ladies, on the other hand, prefer wrought-iron bouquets, and a rose created by oneself will surprise anyone.

What do you need to make metal crafts?

There are not as many tools as it seems, you just need to get such a list:

  • Photo looking at you crafts;
  • Paper;
  • Welding machine;
  • Chisel and hammer;
  • Bulgarian for cutting metal;
  • Special rust remover;
  • Pencil and scissors, when using a stencil;
  • Several washers or bolts, for decorative elements;
  • Steel bars, from a few centimeters to a meter.
  • The basis of creation is sheet metal.

Step by step DIY crafts

The original idea of \u200b\u200bmetal crafts will be an owl. First, for aesthetics, you will need a template or stencil. It can be made from a sheet of paper with printed drawings.

After cutting out the drawing of an owl, the stencil should be attached to a sheet of steel and transferred to the drawing, you need to do it in the most realistic way.

The next step will be cutting the metal with a grinder and drilling holes for fasteners and inserting owl eyes. After creating the body, you should go to the details: paws are made from the rod, and the bumps are straightened with a grinder. In the end, our beauty is treated with a chemical rust remover and painted.

And materials. List of basic tools:

  • Welder.
  • Hammer and pliers.
  • steel sheet
  • Bulgarian.
  • Special paint for metal.
  • Grindstone.
  • Steel wire with a diameter of 6 mm.
  • Metal scissors.

Attention. Do not forget about safety when working with these tools! Be sure to use gloves and a welding mask when working.

We take scissors for cutting metal and cut out thirty rose petals (due to thirty petals, the bud will seem more magnificent). You need to move in cutting from small to large, that is, from 15 mm to 80 mm. Your rose should not be prickly. Therefore, a grindstone will help to smooth out all the irregularities of the petals.

After the formation of an integral flower, we weld the spikes and clean the excess with a grinder, clean the seams and cover with a layer of protective paint - the craft is ready.

Metal products with steel wire

The National Academy of Sciences of Britain in 1856 declared: "Everything that could be invented has long been invented", but time has shown a different outcome. So now. Every year new ways of decorating are invented.

For example, in recent years it has been fashionable to make a figure out of wire or rod. Combinations and special weaves debug the impression of indescribable beauty.

Master class butterfly from a rod

In terms of its complexity, a steel butterfly is not difficult and will not take much time. Usually the working technique consists of twisting the wire (the manufacturing process depends on the right material: the material should not be too thick to be able to bend, but should not be too thin so as not to bend) in several layers.

A body is created with spiral turns, after attaching wings made of two ovals.

Some interesting facts

Metal is the most ancient mineral of interest to man. He mined it, forged it, and now a new fence or another forged deer lit up with a smile of passers-by.

In times of the rapid introduction of Hollywood films and the development of artificial intelligence, the topic of androids and the like has become relevant. Although the world is far from the uprising of machines, it is always possible to forge a transformer, for example, for an exhibition.

Vitaly Yashkovich from Krasnoyarsk became famous throughout the city for his miracle robots. In his collection are such titans of world cinema as: Megatron, Terminator T-200 and T-800, androids star wars, as well as cartoon droids. The owner himself claims that he will not sell his robots to anyone, they say, he created for the soul

Create and you, because the world is not identified and multifaceted. Give him something new and different.

Photo of metal crafts

The first products metal crafts were made in antiquity by skilled craftsmen. Gradually, artistic forging turned into a real work of art and, starting from the 11th century, became an integral part of the architectural structures of Europe. Today, metal products have a high cost, but at the same time they can emphasize the exclusivity of the exterior or interior of an apartment or a country house. We offer you several master classes that will help you make metal crafts with your own hands.

metal owl

Materials:

  • paper;
  • pencil;
  • sheets of cardboard;
  • scissors;
  • sheet metal 1.5 mm thick;
  • Bulgarian;
  • chisel;
  • a hammer;
  • welding machine;
  • chemical rust remover;
  • 2 washers and 2 bolts under them;
  • rod 6-8 mm.

Let's start making metal crafts - owls

1) With a pencil on a piece of paper, draw an owl.

2) We visually break the owl into separate elements and transfer them to the sheets of cardboard in full size of the owl. Cut out templates with scissors.

3) Now we apply the cardboard templates to the sheet metal, transfer them and carefully cut out each detail of the owl with a grinder.

4) In the detail, which is the eyes of an owl, we make holes for the bolts. We make them with a chisel and a hammer.

5) Now we make feathers on all the details of the owl. To do this, take a chisel and make notches.

6) Paws are easy to make from a rod. We cut off the pieces needed for the paws from the rod and weld them together so that we get a paw. We do the second one in the same way.

7) From a piece of sheet metal we make a beak.

9) Now you can connect the parts into one. To do this, carefully weld each of them to each other in desired sequence from the back of the owl. Then we weld the beak and paws to the finished owl.

10) Now, with the help of a chemical solvent, we clean the owl from rust. Follow the instructions on the solvent. If a suitable solvent is not available, make a homemade solution of baking soda and water. It should be of such density that it is easily smeared over the surface. Clean the owl with an old toothbrush, and then rinse well. All work with the solvent is recommended to be done with gloves.

11) When the cleaning process is completed, cover the entire owl with a special varnish. It can be purchased in a special store.

Craft owl made of metal ready. It will become creative, made with love and skill, and will keep memories of the master forever.

Metal figurines look original in a flower bed or in a garden at their summer cottage, so with the help of our step by step instructions you can easily make a rat or some other animal out of metal.

Material:

  • Bulgarian;
  • drill with a drill for metal;
  • metal scissors;
  • electric welding;
  • circle for stripping on the grinder;
  • rods with a diameter of 4,6,10,12 and 14 mm;
  • sheet of 2 mm metal;
  • wire;
  • metal ball from the bearing 3 pieces.

1) We take two pieces of a metal pipe (this rat has a height of 50 centimeters). From one of them we make a head: we cut out the same segments over the entire diameter and get a blank, as in the photo. Then we weld and, using a grinder with a cleaning wheel, we clean this part. We make the body and also clean it in a similar way. Consider the proportions: the head is larger than the body. We weld the head to the body.

2) On a sheet of 2 mm metal we transfer the sketches of the ears and paws of the rat and cut it out. We turn blanks for paws into a funnel. We weld them and clean the seams. Then, by electric welding, we weld each paw to the body and clean the seams again. We weld the ears to the head and do not forget to clean the seams too.

3) Now we make rat paws from twigs. For the upper paws, a 4 mm rod is welded to 10 mm, and for the lower 6 mm paws, it is welded to 12 mm. We insert into the holes of the funnels and scald with welding.

4) We make the tail from a rod of 14 millimeters and weld it to the body.

5) Let's move on to the muzzle of the rat. First, we will make two holes in the head for the eyes. They should be smaller than ball bearings. Now we will drown these balls in the holes and weld them neatly and thinly. We weld the remaining ball in place of the nose by electric welding. Drill holes for the mustache from the wire and insert it.

7) Then we make longitudinal welding seams close to each other throughout the rat. Thanks to this, an imitation of wool will be obtained. Now again we clean the entire craft with the help of a grinder with the desired disk. This is necessary in order to rid the product of scale, slag and give shine.

8) At the end of the work, we apply a special varnish on a metal rat, which can be colorless, or with some effect. It's up to you. The rat in the photo is covered with a colorless varnish with a satin effect.

Now it remains to figure out where to put it or to whom to present such a wonderful gift,.

Master class metal rose

1) During work, observe safety precautions, use gloves and a mask for welding.

2) We cut out petals for a bud and a couple of leaves for a rose from sheet metal with special scissors. We cut out the petals in the following sequence: from smallest to largest, starting with 15 mm and ending with 80 mm. You need to cut about thirty petals, then the bud will be dense and stuffed.

3) Then we smooth the edges of each petal using a grindstone.

4) Cut out triangles from the remaining scraps of sheet metal - they will become rose thorns. Their size should not be less than 10 mm.

5) We make a stem blank from steel wire. Our task is to get rid of its even state. To do this, we can use a hammer to bend it a little so that it looks like a real rose stem.

6) Create a button. The first two smallest petals need to be clamped in a yew and bent in half. Next, we begin to form eight petals in an arc relative to the center of the bud, but be sure to grab each part by welding and then clean it.

7) All subsequent petals are also formed in an arc, but bending back the top of the petal. This procedure is done with a hammer. And just like the previous petals, we weld and clean it again.

8) Now we weld spikes to the already prepared stem. Then we clean them with a grinder.

9) Rose leaves. It is necessary to clamp and unclench the sheet in a yew to get a vein. Then we bend the edges with pliers. And now we attach the leaves to the stem by welding and clean the seams.

10) We weld a rosebud to its stem, carefully clean it at the junction and cover the entire rose with metal paint.

A beautiful flower that combines the tenderness of beauty and the rigidity of the metal is ready. An original and such a painstaking gift will delight the female gaze for many years.

Metal crafts: Panel - fish

panel- This is a decorative composition that serves for beauty and comfort in the house. It can be a carved or ceramic composition, bas-relief or stucco. In the architecture of buildings, panels of tiles of different colors or murals are often found. We offer to make crafts from metal: do-it-yourself wall panel from a metal frame.

materials

  • thick wire;
  • thin wire;
  • beads, a lot of beads;
  • a dozen beads;
  • paper;
  • simple pencil;
  • scissors that can cut wire.

1) The very first thing to do is to draw a sketch of a fish that will occupy a central place in the panel.

2) According to the sketch, we begin to make a fish frame from thick wire. At the same time, we make roundings, as in the photo. In point 5 you will understand what they are for.

3) From the same wire we make jumpers that will increase the rigidity of the structure.

4) A thin wire is needed to fix the frame.

5) Now we begin to fill the fish with beads and beads. To do this, we attach a thin wire to the roundings on the frame and begin to string beads on it. So we braid all parts of the fish with beads, while fastening the wire with beads. To make the product look aesthetically pleasing, do it on the back of the fish. Beads will help emphasize the large scales of the fish, and one bead will go to making the eye. The color of the future craft depends on the selected beads, so fantasize, do not be afraid.

The finished fish can be hung on the wall in the nursery or hallway. It will become not only an interior decoration, but also a pleasant gift for a fishing lover. We recommend making several fish so that you can create a whole one on the wall.

metal crafts parents can do it with the whole family, as you need to follow safety precautions when working with a welding machine. How to make a box from an aluminum can

Even a schoolboy can do the most elementary thing made of metal. The main thing is that this will require practically nothing but time, diligence, imagination and the desire to create. You can make a beautiful box from an ordinary soda can.

Materials and equipment

Raw materials for production, one might say, are lying under your feet on the street. You will also need the following items:

  • sandpaper (skin);
  • sharp scissors;
  • ruler;
  • pencil;
  • ball pen;
  • solid base no larger than A4 (depending on the size of the box);
  • sheet of paper for the diagram.

Sequencing

At the first stage, a layer of paint is removed from the can with sandpaper. It is better to do this from an unopened container, since its walls remain elastic under the influence of the contents. The process will go faster and you won't ruin the metal. If using an empty one, be careful not to crush the jar.

At the next step, from the workpiece, you need to get a thin sheet of aluminum the size of a scan of the future box.

For this bank is cut.
Sharp and uneven edges are removed.

At the next stage, the edges and sides of the product are marked.

A thin metal sheet is placed on a solid base.

The scheme of the box can be drawn directly on a metal sheet.

And you can circle a sketch made in advance on paper.

When the sweep of the box is ready, we proceed directly to drawing the picture. This is done using ballpoint pen or a sharpened pencil. It should be noted that you will have to circle the patterns several times on both sides. This will give more decorativeness and bulge to the pattern.

You yourself could see for yourself that it is very easy to make products from thin sheet metal.

You may well try your hand in this direction. You can make in this way not only caskets, but everything that comes to mind.

DIY garden crafts: step by step ideas and photos

For all lovers of tinkering, inventing and being creative, our today's selection of do-it-yourself crafts for the garden is intended. There is no single concept in them, some of them have an applied value, others are intended purely to cheer up. On the other hand, isn't this the most important thing that we want to see in crafts for a summer residence?

DIY crafts for the garden: photo

Most of the do-it-yourself garden crafts, the photos of which you will see below, are made from simple and accessible materials for everyone. They do not require the possession of complex tools, although building skills may come in handy, as well as artistic fantasy. In addition to wood, plastic and metal, which we have traditionally used for many years, designers offer us new ideas for the garden. for which not quite ordinary materials are used. Who among us could have guessed that knitwear can become decorations of the site? And they did! We present to your attention a whole family of hedgehogs, created with the help of knitting needles and dense woolen threads.

Hedgehogs will look great both on the lawn, in the grass, and on the veranda or in the house. Such interior crafts will also be excellent souvenirs for friends. As you can see, they are all different sizes, all because they are based on cans and tins of different sizes. Even a child can make them if he has the most basic knitting skills in his arsenal. Pay attention to the choice of thread shade to imitate needles. If you can’t pick up melange yarn in gray-black-white shades, then you can do it differently and just knit in two threads, connecting black and white. In order to determine the size of the canvas, measure the selected container with a centimeter: the circumference and the required height. On the knitting needles, dial such a number of loops that will correspond to the circumference. You take the knitting as usual, garter, alternating front and back loops. When the canvas is knitted, sew it like a sleeve, type white threads through the narrow edge. They are knitted with four knitting needles or special socks, on four sides. After knitting a little, put a jar inside the formed stocking, which is intended for the base. After that, tighten the “rear” of the hedgehog with threads. Starting from the middle of the white knit, halve the number of loops in each row to get an elongated muzzle.

At the very end of the knitting, replace the white threads with black ones for literally a couple of rows to make a nose. It remains only to sew on buttons as eyes, build legs from threads and the first hedgehog from a large family is ready.

A bird feeder is certainly a noble craft, but cats may also want to take such a wonderful house. However, such crafts for giving from logs are decorative in themselves, regardless of which tenants occupy them. Moreover, at each site, the fruit fund is updated from time to time, so there remains a large number of logs that can be used for work. This design is very simple, but it looks very impressive, especially if you place it on the territory of an alpine hill or in dense thickets.

Beer in cans and metal bottle caps don't have to go in the trash. Start accumulating source materials in winter in order to please your children with funny metal crafts for a summer cottage in the form of owl faces in the summer.

For work, you will need a variety of metal parts and parts (below you even see crafts from a bicycle wheel), but the principle of operation is the same - two more round parts are screwed onto the round base part with the help of screws - the eyes of an owl, and between them a tiny nose. Fastening is done with wire, it is wound into the base material in three pieces on each side to imitate claws and screwed to a branch, beam or other place where you want to place the craft.

DIY craft ideas for the garden

When looking for DIY ideas for gardening, you can go far and find products that are actually complex designs.

On the other hand, it is they who will cause the greatest delight in your guests, unlike the most simple crafts from bottles for giving. that are available in every area. You can try to make the following characters that will enliven your country landscape if you have minimal skills in creating sculpture. And by the way, the basis of these garden sculptures are just plastic bottles but no one will know about it except you.

To sculpt this work, you will first need to create a bottle frame. If you want to make the same large figures as in the photo, then you will need to use not the usual 1-2 liter bottles, but eggplants of 5-6 liters. They are inserted into each other, previously each of them is cut in half diagonally. Pieces of plastic pipes will serve as arms and legs, you also bend them as you like. At the ends of the tubes we attach pieces of wire, between which we glue the fabric, we get excellent webbed paws. When the frame is completely ready, you can start covering the plastic surface with facade putty, dilute it to a dense consistency and coat the frame with an even layer. We cover the dried plaster with paint, and already on top of it we glue the fabric with folds that will look like frog skin from afar. And the final stage - we apply paint and PVA glue on the fabric, which will allow our figure to be in the open air, without fear of the sun, wind or rain.

The following do-it-yourself inhabitants of the ornamental garden are also devoted to the disposal of materials harmful to nature. Such chickens are made of colored plastic bags, which means that they will also not be afraid of moisture, and will be able to please you for a long time. The only negative is that in the bright sun they can burn out and lose the brightness of their plumage. To create a polyethylene chicken coop, you will first need a thick wire frame. Take dense packages of bright colors, cut them into strips and string them on a needle, collecting them into a frill. This thread (or fishing line), on which the packages are located, is gradually tied around the frame. But while it doesn’t look too much like a chicken, for this, arm yourself with scissors and simply cut the layers of polyethylene, removing all unnecessary. In order for the chicken to stand confidently on the ground, two wire legs are screwed to the frame, which are tied with black electrical tape. Final steps purely decorative - make eyes for the chicken, a beak with a beard and a scallop. For quiet purposes, you can use thick cardboard.

How to make DIY crafts for the garden

In the photo you see a hint on how this can be easily done: the pipe is simply pulled to the center and the edges are connected, for example, with an industrial stapler. After that, when the correct shape has already been acquired, you very quickly paint the metal with an orange spray paint. Inside we insert a piece of pipe and some building fibers. Now orange pumpkins will decorate your site not only in autumn, but also all year round confusing your neighbors.

If you like to play bowling and in the country you do not have enough of this hobby, you can make a children's bowling alley from plastic bottles. But it's boring just to knock down sand-filled bottles, it's much more interesting when they are painted with paints. It can be gnomes, as in the example, or the faces of characters from favorite children's cartoons, in any case, knocking them down even with a simple soccer ball instead of a ball will be fun.

Beautiful DIY crafts for the garden

The following beautiful DIY garden crafts look different, but they are based on the same manufacturing principle. These are balls made of concrete, and then covered with paint.

If in the first case this is an excellent decoration for a playground, then the second option, using metallic paint, makes such decor unearthly, cosmic.

Canisters from under various detergents also has to be disposed of somewhere. We offer you two options for such artistic recycling. You will need a minimum of additional materials - anchor bolts for legs with hooves, an old brush to create real boar bristles and pieces of plastic to match the ears. You can make it one or a whole brood and place it in the sandbox for permanent residence.

And from a canister with inscriptions you can make a bird feeder. It must first be thoroughly rinsed and ventilated to remove chemical residues. Cut out the middle so that there is space for falling asleep food, but there are sufficiently high sides. The surface of the plastic is smeared with PVA glue and a hemp rope or twine is wound on it in even rows.

Creative ideas for arrangement can be applied everywhere, even in the unusual design of the palisade. Do-it-yourself metal furniture - making metal furniture for home and garden

    Several examples of metal furniture, which we want to bring to your attention, are easy to manufacture and practical. The absence of adhesive joints and the relatively low weight of metal furniture make it possible to recommend these products as garden furniture and furniture for summer cottages.

    Manufacturing of metal furniture

    For the manufacture of furniture with their own hands from metal, special techniques are characteristic that you need to know. The starting material is usually duralumin or thin-walled steel tubes with a diameter of 16 to 22 mm. For metal furniture, the description of the manufacturing process of which is given in this section, you can use obsolete duralumin folding beds, folding chairs, ski poles, etc.

    The main operation in the manufacture of metal furniture is pipe bending. At home, this operation is easiest to perform in special device consisting of two bars and a flat disk.

    It is desirable to make the details of the device from hardwood and securely fasten it on a solid base (workbench, table, etc.).

    P.). The bars of the device are fixed so that there is a gap between them, allowing you to freely insert a pipe into it for bending. A prerequisite The quality of this operation is stuffing the pipes with sand or pouring them with molten rosin. To do this, a wooden cork is hammered into the pipe blank from one end, then the pipe is tightly packed with dry, finely sown river sand. Now it remains to drown the tube on the other side and you can start bending.

    When bending furniture parts made of metal of complex configuration, for example, a chair frame, it is necessary to use a plaza. The simplest bending plaza is a sheet of plywood or cardboard on which the contours of the future part are drawn. In order to reproduce the contour of the part on the plaza in full size, a coordinate grid is applied to it (similar to the grid shown in the figure on this page) and the configuration of the part is transferred from the figure to the cells.

    During the bending process, the part is periodically checked along the contour on the plaza. To connect pipe parts to each other, wooden adapter bushings are usually used, which allow the use of conventional fasteners - screws or studs. Plugs are placed in the supporting ends of the legs. Corks should be made from well seasoned dry hardwood. They can be turned on a wood lathe, and try to make the diameter of the plugs such that it provides the tightest (tight) fit possible.

    A few words about metal furniture finishing. Details from duralumin pipes are best finished by polishing to a mirror finish, followed by a colorless varnish, but this is only possible with a mechanized tool, an electric drill or motor, as well as a polishing wheel.

    If you do not have such tools, then the metal parts of the furniture should be carefully sanded (especially steel) and painted with black or other colored varnish or paint for metal.

    So, on the following pages of the site idea-master.ru we will tell you in more detail how to make metal furniture with your own hands: Round metal table, Metal chair, Metal tube chair, Kitchen table and Semi-soft metal bench.

    CYLINDER MANUFACTURE

    In the middle of the sweep, mark the holes for attaching the ear

    1. On a rectangular sheet of thin-sheet galvanized steel GOST 14918-80, on a home-made manual bending machine, or manually using a mallet and a bar, we fold the edges of the sheet “along the height” in opposite directions. We bend the sheet into a cylinder.
    2. We fasten the folded edges.

    We evenly press the resulting seam with a mallet or mallet along the entire length of the cylinder.
    3. In order for the seam to remain inside the cylinder, it is necessary to carry out the following operation: turn the finished seam so that it is near the edge of the timber; hitting the seam with a mallet, we get the outer surface of the cylinder without a protruding seam.

    REBELLING

    The width of the fold depends on its purpose: obtaining a lock; wire rolling.

    4. Set the cylinder relative to the bar to its original position. We tap with a hammer and bend the fold.
    5. Tap with the pointed side of the hammer. We monitor the width of the fold - it should be the same.
    6. Align the fold by tapping with the blunt side of the hammer.
    7. We finally bend the bent fold at a right angle.

    WIRE ROLLING

    We put a circle around the perimeter of the flanging,

    made of wire, the diameter of which must match the outer diameter of the cylinder.

    We round the circular edge and finally bring the seaming.

    CONNECTING THE CYLINDER TO THE BOTTOM

    8. Bend the edges of the circle and insert into the cylinder.
    9. With light blows of the pointed part of the hammer, we bend the fold inside the circle.
    10. With strong blows of the blunt part of the hammer, we tap the fold on the beam, while turning the cylinder.
    11. We dump the fold on the outer plane of the cylinder.
    12. If as a result of the work a convex bottom is obtained, it is necessary to level it.
    13. On the very edge of the bottom, we hit with the blunt part of the hammer, around the entire perimeter of the circle. At the same time, the bottom will level out, the connection edges will receive a pronounced contour.

    ATTACHING THE INTERMEDIATE HOOP

    The bottom of the bucket can be attached to the intermediate hoop, and the intermediate hoop can be attached to the cylinder.

    14. We fix the bottom of the bucket with a hoop.
    15. We connect the hoop with the cylinder (bucket body).
    16. We bend the fold at the hoop.
    17. We dump the fold on the outer plane of the cylinder and thoroughly tap on the perimeter of the entire circle.

    LUCK MANUFACTURE

    We will cut out the ears from a similar material. We will punch or drill through holes: two for rivets; one with a metal handle.

    HANDLE MANUFACTURING

    We bend the handle from a metal wire with a diameter of 5 ... 6 (mm) GOST 18143-72.

    How to make a bucket with your own hands from tin - as you can see, nothing complicated. Having mastered a simple model. You can move on to a more complex model with sloping walls.
