Production of products from pvc boats. Manufacturing technology of inflatable boats, sealing seams. DIY PVC inflatable boat

PVC boat production technology has two different approaches. The first approach - boats are made by gluing. The second approach is production using the so-called cold welding.

Both approaches can be considered completely equivalent, in terms of the capabilities and characteristics of the resulting seams, and all speculation about the fact that some kind of technology is better is completely untenable. Unless, of course, all the nuances of technology are observed.

Features of the welding method

One of the myths about boats made using welded technology said that when welding HDTV, the surface layers of PVC are destroyed, thinned, and the seam becomes less durable. In fact, everything is completely different.

Indeed, the surface layers of PVC are melted in the very fabric of the cylinders and the fabric of the linings laid on both sides at the joints.

But at the same time, in the place of welding, a monolithic material is formed at the joints. The strength in these places becomes greater than the strength of the PVC materials on the cylinders. The same is observed at the junction of the bottom with the cylinders.

Formally, the seams should be weaker in strength, but in practice everything turns out the other way around. It is in the places of the seams that the main strength is concentrated.

The welding method makes it possible to maximize the use of automatic machines to speed up the entire technological process.

Features of the gluing method

The modern production of PVC boats by gluing resembles the technology of manufacturing rubber boats. The formed cylinders fit one into the other and are glued together using special adhesives. At the same time, the process of heating the place of gluing also takes place. At the same time, the temperature does not violate the structure and integrity of the surface layer of the PVC material. The quality of the seam depends on the width of the overlap, the quality of the adhesive and compliance with the technology ( temperature regime, time intervals).

At the same time, there is a butt gluing method. In this case, reinforcing pads are used on both sides at the junction of the cylinders. The quality of the seam depends on professionalism, accuracy and adherence to technology. Many well-known companies use this technology. The quality of the seams is in no way inferior to other connection options.

Other technological subtleties

For well-known manufacturers, cutting patterns for cylinder bodies, bottoms, mating parts is carried out using a cutting laser machine. This technology allows you to most accurately cut out the details of the future boat from PVC material.

There is one more structural detail for inflatable boats, the quality of which is subject to particularly serious requirements by manufacturers. These are airtight jumpers that separate the compartments of the boats. Jumpers are made in the form of cones and act as a specific pressure regulator. Essentially membranes. The unsinkability of the boat and the safety of people depend on the quality and correctness of the jumper.

In the event of a breakdown of one of the cylinders, the jumper prevents the air from leaving the cylinders completely. At the same time, bending in the direction of the punctured cylinder, it increases the volume of the whole cylinder, which can be refilled in the event of an accident and thereby increase the carrying capacity of the remaining intact part of the boat.

The production of PVC boats involves the use of certain technologies in the formation of a hard bottom.

There are several options for the bottom: a stacked bottom, which looks like waterproof plywood segments that are inserted into PVC openings, glued or welded to the main bottom. The technology for fastening the openings depends on the general manufacturing technology of the PVC boat.

The inflatable bottom - airdeck - looks like two planes (essentially a rug), which are under pressure at some distance from each other. The distance is set by low-stretch threads, which are located perpendicular to the plane of the inflatable bottom. Such a bottom is made of a special material that can withstand high pressure.

The bottom in the form of a book is made of separate movable segments, while such a bottom completely covers the entire area of the main bottom. The segments are fastened together with the help of a special material glued to the segments and capable of withstanding multiple kinks.

The ends are necessarily covered with PVC overlays to prevent rubbing of the cylinders.

Inflatable boats for fishing

When choosing a boat for fishing, the following must be taken into account:

  • size and number of seats in it;
  • length, width, height and weight;
  • bottom type (inflatable or rigid);
  • practicality (the ability to move the seats) and safety (the density of PVC fabric, the shape of the side, etc.).

You should also pay attention to the individual elements of the boat. For example, while standing on an inflatable bottom, it is more difficult to cast a spinning rod than on a boat with a rigid deck. The choice of bottoms today is quite diverse.

Choosing the bottom of inflatable boats:

  • hard deck (floor);
  • folding payol (payol-book);
  • rigid payol with an H-shaped profile;
  • hard payol with stringers;
  • rack flooring;
  • inflatable bottom;
  • stretch deck.

Consider these data when choosing materials and parts for your future successful and salable model.

When drawing up a business plan, the first thing to do is to analyze the raw materials for the production of boats, and choose the best materials. For example, polyvinyl chloride can be reinforced and unreinforced. The first is more reliable and durable. The second is much cheaper, but it stretches more easily, has low strength indicators.

Reinforced PVC boats have a number of advantages:

  1. Strength.
  2. Resistant to UV rays of the sun.
  3. Easy repair.
  4. Resistant to corrosion and dirt.
  5. Compact and optimal weight.

Among other materials that are used in the production, polyurethane, a rubberized fabric, is distinguished.

For production of PVC inflatable boats Finnish five-layer is used reinforced PVC fabric of Scantarp concern and Mirasol PVC fabric (South Korea) from 700 g / m2 - 1100 g / m2, which has proven its quality in the market of PVC products. In the manufacture PVC inflatable boats are used modern technologies, which allow not only to firmly connect the parts PVC products, and also provide flexibility and elasticity of the seam in places of increased load, which gives a high level of reliability and safety on the water. Taking into account the comments and preferences of buyers, the developers and technologists of the projects presented a wide the lineup boat pvc with different technical characteristics and types of equipment.

Depending on the design features, pvc inflatable boats there are several types:

Rowing pvc boats without transom- designed for movement on small lakes and rivers. This type boats has many advantages. They are small and light, designed for one or two places, equipped with one kayak oar or two conventional oars, depending on the model. They have a simple solution - a two-section balloon, seats - an inflatable pillow or a bench. This is a good option for a fisherman or a hunter, a tourist and a traveler, as well as a family holiday on the reservoirs of your region.

PVC transom boats without keel belong to the category of flat-bottomed, designed for use with an electric motor or gasoline engine of low power up to five hp. Unlike the first kind boats, this range has a hard transom for mounting a boat motor. boats are not equipped with hard and inflatable floor, also no keel. At the request of the buyer, boats of this category can be equipped according to their goals and desires under the order. PVC transom boats convenient for moving around water bodies, trolling fishing, river travel, family outdoor activities.

Transom pvc boats With keel thanks to their high technical specifications For many years, they have firmly held a leading position in the fishing accessories market. This type boats designed for motors with a capacity of five or more horsepower for moving through small and large water bodies in the coastal zone of the water area. The entire range transom PVC boats with keel completed hard floor (floor), stringers depending on the model keel short or elongated. When choosing boats from the category of this model range before buying, decide what engine power you need PVC transom keelboat.

Vyat Boat Company accepts orders for personal equipment, installs additional equipment and options with gluing a variety of devices for the entire model range boat pvc provided in the catalog on the site.

PVC boats are becoming more and more popular every day among the fishermen of our country. Every fisherman at least once thought about having his own swimming facility: a boat or a boat. No one needs to explain how significantly a PVC boat expands the possibilities of an angler in catching fish. Owning your own boat or boat is not cheap, but there is an alternative: a PVC inflatable boat.

An inflatable boat, unlike a regular one, has a large number of advantages:

  • An inflatable boat takes up significantly less storage space, it can be stored in a garage, utility room, even in an apartment.
  • It is much more convenient to transport an inflatable boat to the place of fishing, there is no need to purchase a car trailer, install a tow bar.
  • To launch an inflatable boat, there is no need to look for special place, the inflatable boat weighs much less, so even one person can easily launch it into the water.
  • The price of an inflatable boat is several times cheaper, so a large number of people can afford to buy it.

The first inflatable boats were made of rubber, they were not very reliable in operation, but they were inexpensive, anyone could afford to buy such a boat for fishing, hunting or tourism. The basis of a rubber boat is a synthetic mesh or cotton fabric coated on both sides with rubber for gas tightness. Over time, manufacturers of rubber boats have improved the technology of their manufacture, began to use rubber with a high content of natural rubber, so that the boats have become much better and more reliable.

In the 90s, the first inflatable boats appeared from a new, more modern material, polyvinyl chloride (PVC). PVC fabric was a nylon mesh coated on both sides with a layer of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which is an elastic and airtight material. PVC boats were significantly superior to rubber boats in terms of performance, but at first they cost much more than rubber boats. A little later, an increasing number of manufacturers began to appear on the market and the prices for PVC boats dropped significantly. To date, PVC inflatable boats have become the most popular view boats of all.

Advantages of PVC boats

  • Easy to store PVC boats. Before storage, the rubber boat must be thoroughly washed, dried properly, sprinkled with talc and stored, if possible, deployed, in a partially inflated state, so that the boat does not rot and become moldy. There are no such problems with the PVC boat, I rolled it up and put it in storage until spring: in the garage, on the loggia, in the basement. PVC boat storage temperature from -40 to +50 degrees. It is advisable to store a rubber boat at a temperature of -5 to +35 degrees.
  • PVC boats are more resistant to tearing and abrasion. PVC fabric in its structure is denser and coarser, therefore it can better withstand mechanical stress. The rubberized fabric of the rubber boat does not resist longitudinal cuts well, so the rubber boat must be protected from sharp branches, snags, sharp stones and glass fragments.
  • The seams of PVC boats are much stronger and more aesthetically pleasing than the seams of rubber boats. The seams are the weakest point of the rubber boat, to reinforce them, the seams are glued with special tapes, so they look much less aesthetically pleasing. And despite the reinforcement of the seams with tapes, the strength of the seams of a rubber boat is still worse than that of a PVC boat. The tensile strength of the seams in a PVC boat is 3.5-4.5 kg., in the seams of a rubber boat 0.5 kg.
  • PVC boat cylinders hold a higher pressure, their working pressure is 0.3, for rubber boats the working pressure is 0.15. The pressure in the cylinders of a rubber boat must be carefully controlled, otherwise, in the heat, pumped cylinders can burst, this can especially happen with an old boat that has served its owner for many years. This does not happen with a PVC boat.
  • PVC boats are lighter than rubber inflatable boats. This moment becomes especially sensitive with a large inflatable boat.
  • The fabric from which PVC boats are made is much more practical than rubberized fabric. It does not rot, is not exposed to fungi and bacteria, does not absorb moisture, is not afraid of frost, ultraviolet radiation.
  • PVC boats are well suited for use with a motor, as PVC fabric is not afraid of contact with petroleum products: gasoline, engine oil.
  • PVC fabric manufacturers produce more than 20 colors and shades of their fabrics, which allows PVC boat designers and builders to create beautiful and aesthetically pleasing boats for every taste of their customers.
  • PVC boats are considered safer, even in the event of a boat cylinder puncture, the air from the PVC boat cylinder leaves much more slowly, leaving the boat owner more time to take measures to save the boat and property in the boat. Rubber boats sink faster.

Disadvantages of PVC boats

  • PVC boats, due to the greater rigidity of the material, take up more volume when folded. A rubber boat of the same size, when folded, will take up less space than a PVC fabric boat.
  • In late autumn, at low temperatures, when folding a PVC boat, difficulties often arise due to the fact that the fabric of the boat coarsens, becomes stiff and hard to fold. Although speaking about this disadvantage, it should be noted that very few people use the boat at sub-zero temperatures, most owners use an inflatable boat at an ambient temperature above 15 degrees.
  • Repairing a PVC boat is considered more difficult compared to repairing a rubber boat. In the early days after the first boats made of PVC fabric, it was very difficult for the owners of such boats to find glue and a repair kit to fix their boat. Currently, each PVC boat comes with glue and a set of patches to repair punctures and cuts in the field. In addition, through the ads, you can find craftsmen in your city who can repair your PVC boat in a quality manner, eliminating any problems with your boat.
  • A PVC boat is usually much more expensive than a rubber boat. Although in recent times prices for PVC boats are almost equal to the prices for rubber boats.
  • The PVC material of the fabric can be easily burned by a cigarette or coal from a fire, so you need to be careful and attentive when using the boat, especially if you are a smoker.

PVC boat selection

A lot of questions arise in a person when choosing an inflatable boat, especially if this is his first boat. When choosing a boat, you need to consider several important points:

  • The size of the boat should match the size of the water where you will be fishing. The larger the pond, the larger your boat should be.
  • Be sure to consider the number of people who will be on the boat with you.
  • For fishing in a small body of water: a pond or a small river, a simple rowing boat is enough, designed for one, maximum for two people. For fishing in a large body of water: a large reservoir, a large river, a lake, it is better to purchase a PVC boat with a transom to install an outboard outboard motor.
  • Pay attention to the number of cylinders in the boat, there should be at least two, even better three. The more tanks in the boat, the safer it is.
  • Boats differ in the density of the PVC fabric from which they are made. The greater the density of the fabric, the thicker and stronger the fabric, but at the same time, the weight of the boat increases. It is advisable to choose boats with a sufficiently high density of PVC fabric.
  • The bottom of the boat may be different in design. There are boats with an inflatable bottom, as well as boats with a bottom made of plywood or even aluminum.
  • If the performance of the boat and its stability on the water are of great importance to you, try to test the model of your future boat by taking a boat of the same model from your fellow fishermen and trying it on the water.

Each of these methods has its own advantages and disadvantages, so in each case choose the most appropriate.

With mechanical cutting methods, the time spent is 5-10% of the total boat manufacturing time.

In mass production, a flat cutting method is used, which allows you to simultaneously cut out 10-20 parts of the same configuration. Promising for the flattening method are laser cutting and cutting with a water jet, in which the contour of parts can be cut out according to a given program. Cutting material with a laser beam provides a cutting speed of up to 30 m/min and a cutting accuracy of ± 0.5 mm. With this method of cutting, the edges of parts made of synthetic fabrics are melted and have a clear edge. When cutting, the material is held in place by vacuum.

Recently, great opportunities have been opened up by the technique of cutting rubberized fabrics with a jet of water. The essence of the method is that water is compressed to a pressure of about 400 MPa, and then ejected in a thin stream through a sapphire nozzle with a diameter of 0.1-0.3 mm. The water jet, which has a very high speed, easily cuts the material. Polymer additives or abrasive particles are sometimes added to a system with ordinary tap water. The cutting speed can reach up to 60 m/min depending on the material. The reactive force in the nozzle due to the low water flow (0.5 - 4 l / min) is insignificant, therefore, industrial robots can be used with this method.

On the cut panels, the places of gluing together and the places of gluing parts are marked. To remove excess powdering material from the bonding areas and create a rough surface in order to increase the bonding strength, roughening is used, that is, the removal of a very thin layer of rubber lining. Details with straight sections are roughened on roughing machines, and parts of complex configuration - with manual roughening elements. The duration of roughening in the overall process of manufacturing boats is from 5 to 15%.

However, the roughening process is time-consuming, and in thin shells of fabrics it can lead to a loss of textile strength and a violation of sealing. In recent years, especially intensive work has been carried out to eliminate this process by selecting new powder coating materials that are easily washed off by solvents and using stronger adhesive compositions. The rough surface, on at least one side of the fabric, may be formed by evenly spaced indentations in the form of intersecting lines, which are formed simultaneously with the vulcanization of the fabric. An interesting solution is when an abrasive material is introduced into the adhesive, which, when rolling the parts to be joined, penetrates into the surfaces to be glued like “rivets”.

The success of bonding is determined by good surface preparation and even, without wrinkles and bubbles, the bonding of the bonded surfaces. Before gluing, mark the border of the material overlay. The surfaces to be glued are connected starting from one edge of the seam to the other or from the middle to the edges so that there are no wrinkles and bubbles. The seam is smoothed by hand or rolled with a roller. On long seams, in order to avoid uneven stretching of fabrics, marks are applied in advance on both surfaces to be glued after 30–50 cm. Seams several meters long are glued in parts of 1–1.5 m. as the pieces are connected. Most often, the connection of the panels is carried out using a one-time or multiple lubrication of the glued areas with glue, mainly cold curing. In the manufacture of heavy trucksFor large-sized boats, hot-curing adhesives are used, followed by pre-pressing and vulcanization of the seam in a vulcanizing press. Spread the glue manually or with a mechanical glue spreader. Before smearing with glue, the surfaces for gluing are refreshed with an organic solvent (gasoline, ethyl acetate, their mixture, etc.) - After refreshing with a solvent and after each spread, the surfaces are dried.

The assembly of the shell of a homemade inflatable boat starts from the sides and is performed in strict sequence. individual parts in in due course they are connected with various seams (mainly overlapped) along the smeared edges, to which, on both sides, to eliminate the effect of air filtration along the fibers of the fabric, pre-glued tapes 25–40 mm wide made of rubberized fabric are glued (Fig. 4.1), often thinner than the bead fabric. When using hot curing adhesives, seams are sealed with tapes made of unvulcanized rubbers or rubberized fabrics.

For many fishermen, preparation for the season consists in acquiring the necessary gear, trips to specialized shops in search of the necessary costumes, equipment. Although there are those who are thinking about buying a boat or even making it with their own hands.

Purchase or self-gluing

Of course, many trust only eminent manufacturers who have excellent equipment for the production of PVC boats, experienced specialists work, and they have been known in their field for more than a dozen years. True, others prefer to purchase products from private craftsmen who cut the details with their own hands, glue them, go through and check each seam. Such manufacturers are responsible for the quality of their products.

There are also craftsmen who buy a piece of PVC material, various components that make up the boat, and assemble the finished product. True, only a few can independently deal with the production of these products. Therefore, it is much better to entrust the manufacture of inflatable boats to professionals who know all the nuances of the correct cutting of the material, its verification and processing.

Start of production

If you have some experience with PVC materials, you know how boats are made, then you can think about your business. First of all, it is necessary to choose equipment for the production of PVC boats and specialists who will be able to choose the right material, cut parts, join them and, of course, test the finished product. Of course, it is better to automate all processes to the maximum, leaving a person only to control the process.

But the selection of material for such products should be carried out with great care. According to the established state standards, PVC fabric with a density of 640 g / m 2 can be used for an ordinary rowing inflatable boat. However, experienced manufacturers prefer to make more durable products. Some for cylinders acquire material with a density of 850, and for the bottom - 1100 g / m 2.

Cutting and joining options

When purchasing equipment for the production of PVC boats, you should pay attention to special devices to work with patterns. With the help of a laser, cutting is done with an accuracy of up to a millimeter. This completely excludes possible problems during assembly finished product. If the pattern was made correctly, then the connection of the parts will not cause any difficulties. However, during operation, not only the correct shape of the boat without obvious deformations is important, Special attention should be given to the quality of the seams.

Currently, there are two options for assembling boats from PVC materials. Some manufacturers prefer to glue them. Moreover, such seams often turn out to be more tear-resistant than the material itself. True, for a reliable connection, it is necessary to use a special adhesive made on a polyurethane basis.

Others purchase special equipment for the production of PVC boats, designed to weld parts. It is considered more modern method. Parts can also be joined by vulcanization, ultrasonic welding or hot air treatment.

How boats are cut

Before starting work, a piece of PVC fabric of the required density is selected. At the same time, its quality must be preliminarily checked. On the material, with the help of special templates, parts of the sides and bottom of the future boat are drawn.

Marking can be done manually or with special stencils. If the production has special equipment, then cutting can be performed automatically. With this method, up to 20 identical parts are simultaneously manufactured. For this, a special laser and a cooling water jet are used, the combination of which produces even and sharp edges.

After that, trained people already begin to process the parts - they mark the places of their connection and the boundaries to which the material is applied. With proper preparation at the docking stage, no problems will arise. At first, it is customary to connect the details of the sides of the future boat and only after that to impose the bottom.

Collection of parts

In addition to the correct patterns and high-quality cutting, the production technology of PVC boats is also important. Bonding at the seams with glue can be done with an overlap or butt. In the latter case, the connections are reinforced thanks to special tapes. Double-sided overlapping of all joints allows for maximum strength.

However, quality boat manufacturers do not stop there. After gluing, the seams are subjected to high-temperature treatment. After this, it is possible to break the details of the boat only if you intentionally tear off the layer of PVC material from its base.

And other manufacturers prefer to weld parts. This, of course, requires special expensive equipment - high-frequency current installations. With the help of them, even long seams are created, because they provide uniform heating of the material along the entire length of the joints. In this case, only the joints are exposed to temperature, and the edges of the material remain cold, and due to this they are not deformed. As a result, the output is smooth sealed seams, which are practically invisible.

The combination of quality and price

If you follow all the stages in which the production of boats should take place, choose only high-quality material for work and purchase good equipment, it becomes clear that the price of such products cannot be low. However, if the buyer wants to buy a boat for more than one year, then it is better to spend a little money and buy a better product.

Of course, it is now quite easy to find Chinese-made PVC boats on the market. They can be 2-3 times cheaper than similar domestic products. This stops many manufacturers, because after calculating the possible cost of products, they realize that they will not be able to compete with Chinese goods. Although it is worth remembering that fishermen are well aware of what they are paying for, and many of them will prefer a quality domestic boat than a cheap analogue.
