DVR with two cameras. mio. Review Mio VixCam C10. Video surveillance and smart home system Why is it needed at all

In the spring of 2014, due to the appearance of free time, I decided to finally logically finish the driving lessons that had begun in the previous year and open, to the envy of enemies, category A.

Strange as it may seem, everything went quite quickly: documents for school, a couple of classes with an instructor at the traffic police site, and two weeks later the exam itself, by the way, was the first of that year. I remember it was cold, but the rain and wind did not improve the situation, it seemed the weather hinted that it was too early for you to become pioneers. But on that day, there wasn’t much that could interfere with me, except for the curved idle speed adjustment on a horse, but everything was in order with that: at idle, the EBR pulled like a diesel in a low gear. A couple of days later, I took the updated rights from the traffic police.

The next month I ordered a motorcycle and at the same time I thought that it would not be bad to buy a camera on the helmet in advance. The camera was needed not so much for recording impressions as as a registrar. Still, riding a motorcycle in Moscow (and not only in Moscow) is of a specific nature and it is somehow much easier to prove, in which case, that you are not a camel, with a video in your pocket.

Choice

What is on the market, from suitable for mounting on a helmet:
(1) Various versions of advanced moves (Go Pro):
+ quality of sound and video recording;
+ autonomy;
- wild price tag;
- inconvenient form factor (looks awkward and does not improve aerodynamics);
(2) Sony cameras: the facts, and especially the price, put an end to these options;
(3) Chinese cameras with Ali in the shape of a cut pipe (or cigar, whatever)

In general, one of the Chinese ordered. But, looking ahead, I will say that I was not destined to get it.

In parallel, in my opinion, on a bike post, there was a post for an auction of unprecedented generosity from a well-known store (see video). There, exactly what I needed was sold for half the cost of an average Chinese camera. In the capital, everything was already sold out, but there were still a couple of options in the Moscow region, one of which I managed to intercept.

There are a lot of reviews on this camera on the Internet, therefore, it makes no sense to list the familiar characteristics for everyone, I would like to dwell on the qualities of the camera that I liked to use. There are not so many of them - about five:

(1) Dimensions and weight. The camera has very modest overall and weighty characteristics, which has a very positive effect on wearing it on a helmet, because when you have the modular itself weighing 1.5 kg, every extra 100 gr. already starting to be noticed.
Here is a comparison of MIO with Polaroid:

Mio looks 1/3 more compact and as much lighter.

(2) Loop recording. The memory limit of most cameras is limited to support cards up to 32 GB. That's about 2.5 - 3 hours of FHD video, which isn't much overall. I have a regular road to the dacha, often takes so much time (with smoke breaks). And it turns out that on the way back I can’t take a video without the overwrite function, and it’s not possible to quickly clear the card on all cameras. So the loop recording function in all action cameras should be supported or the working capacity of the cards should be increased to 60 - 120 GB.

(3) Autonomy. Mio is one of the few action cameras allowing you to record when a power source is connected, which extends autonomy almost to infinity. You just need to buy a portable battery, connect it to the camera and throw it into your jacket pocket:

(4) The presence of several helmet mounts. The package comes with about 2 or 3 identical helmet mounts, which is very convenient if you have more than one helmet. In Polaroid, for example, one mount rides and if something happens to it, what to do is not clear. Not to mention the fact that you can already put it on another helmet.

(5) Water proof. In the sink, the IP68 protection class means immersion to a depth of up to 3 meters for up to 1 hour. I took the camera a couple of times at sea - everything is fine.

Total: MIO turned out to be a generally suitable camera for moto, video examples are below:

From the motorcycle camera:

Under water:

Danger on the road can lie in wait from absolutely any side, and if we cannot prevent it, then at least we need to fix the chronology of events. This problem is perfectly solved by a car DVR. But he shoots only what is happening ahead, and this is sometimes not enough. Owners of DVRs from Mio can now solve this problem. Recently, a rear view camera entered our market. Mio MiVue A30, which is compatible with most of the company's latest line of registrars

Packaging and equipment

The camera is delivered in a colorful and informative box; a little more modest than the packaging of the DVRs of this company, but still quite presentable. There is a lot of information on the box: a description of features, characteristics, and so on.

Inside the box, in addition to the rear view camera itself, there is a set of cables for connection (Y-shaped with three connectors and MicroUSB 5 meters long), as well as a user manual. As you can see, the equipment is not rich, but what else can be put with such a camera is also quite difficult to come up with.

Appearance and features

The camera itself is quite compact, several times smaller than the registrar to which it is connected. It consists of two parts: the camera itself and the mount, which we will consider a little later. The camera body is made of very high-quality plastic, even at the first inspection, the impression of a quality product is created. The body feels monolithic, the assembly is excellent, no squeaks or backlashes were found.

The peephole of the camera is carefully sealed with a transport film, do not forget to peel it off before using it, otherwise we will be surprised at the blue video.

There are practically no elements on the case, no screens, no buttons, only the Mio logo on one of the sides and a MicroUSB port for connecting to the main DVR on the back of the case.

It is noteworthy that the manufacturer supplied this camera with an L-shaped cable, which greatly simplifies the laying of this very cable under the roof lining and leading it directly to the camera on the rear window of the car.

Let's say a few words about fastening. In our opinion, it was possible to make a small suction cup, as is implemented on most Mio DVRs, but the manufacturer had a different opinion on this matter and he made double-sided tape for fastening. If you do not plan to change the position of the camera, move it somewhere or reinstall it in another car, then such a mount will suit you, otherwise you will have to use a new adhesive tape every time, which is not included in the kit. There are no questions about the reliability of fastening, after installing the camera we drove with it for almost a month, there was no hint of peeling off, although the roads in places leave much to be desired. Also note that the arm is movable, which will allow you to adjust the angle of inclination for better coverage.

The camera measures 46 x 42 x 32 mm and weighs just under 50 grams. As you can see, in comparison with a coin, the camera is really very tiny, you won’t even immediately notice it on the rear window of a car.

Installation and connection

So, this is the most interesting part. At first glance, installing and connecting the camera looks rather complicated, but in practice the whole process takes no more than half an hour. You have two cables available: one long for laying through the car interior and the second Y-shaped for connecting two cameras to the power supply at the same time.

First of all, stick the pad on the glass and install the camera on it.

Next, lay a five-meter cable from the rear view camera to the main DVR. By the way, we used the previously tested one, the review of which is also worth reading. In general, there are as many as six DVRs in the list of compatible ones (Mio MiVue С380D, 765, 785, 786, 788). After laying the cable through the cabin, we have about a meter left. This part had to be tightened with ties and hidden under the panel next to the front glass. After pulling the cable, a Y-shaped cable comes into play, which combines a rear view camera and a DVR, and also has a slot for connecting power from the car's on-board network. To do this, use the standard cable supplied with the DVR. Then you hide all this bundle of wires either under the roof lining or under the front panel. Note that this is not so easy, because the Y-shaped cable has a very thick section, it practically does not bend and climbs into small gaps between the panels with great difficulty.

At the final stage of installation, you connect all this to the registrar and to the cigarette lighter, start the car and see that instead of one picture on the screen of the registrar, there are now two of them. And by pressing, you can choose which will be the main one - from the front camera or from the back. By the way, if your car does not have parking sensors or a parking camera, as an alternative, you can use the image from the Mio rear view camera.

Testing

Mio MiVue A30 camera records video in 1920 x 180 resolution at 30 frames per second. The quality is not perfect, but quite good. In clear weather during the day, car numbers are distinguishable from 10-15 meters, which will be enough for most situations.

At night the situation is worse. Rooms can be distinguished from 5 meters with difficulty.

Another important point. Since the camera does not have its own memory, and also lacks a card slot, we recommend using the most capacious memory card in the main recorder. Since the video will be recorded in two streams, a small card is hardly enough for an hour of driving, and then the videos will be overwritten, which is not at all good.

Eventually

The Mio MiVue A30 rear view camera is definitely a useful accessory for a motorist. The road is sometimes very unpredictable, and additional remedy, with which you can restore the whole situation, never hurts. The camera itself performed well. The picture is decent, especially during the day. Installation is simple, you just need to successfully lay all the cables; if you have the skill, then this will not be difficult for you.

The price of Mio MiVue A30 is about 5000 rubles. Agree, this is quite expensive, especially considering that the registrar itself is not much more expensive, but it has a screen and a more advanced mount, and the picture is often noticeably better. But this camera has no alternatives, so if you want additional protection, will have to pay.

pros:

  • Excellent quality of materials and assembly;
  • Fairly simple installation and connection;
  • Good picture in the daytime;
  • Very compact dimensions.

Minuses:

  • Thick and rigid Y-cable;
  • Pretty high price.

Previously, I Mio MiVue 786 is a convenient, functional, generally pleasant DVR. More recently, a useful addition came out to it - the Mio MiVue A30 rear view camera. In conditions Russian roads when you don’t know which side it will fly from, it’s a useful thing.

The review of the Mio MiVue A30 rear view camera is definitely incomplete without an overview of the registrar itself. So I'm sending you to mine. After reading, we meet here and continue the conversation about the rear camera.

Video recorder Mio MiVue 786

Why is it needed at all?

The front DVR is clear what you need. You always have undeniable evidence of any incident and that you are right, no matter what happens on the road.

For example, over the past 8 months, the DVR has saved me personally twice. The first time when a friend in the car in front suddenly (!) Started to back up and did not notice ... my car. Yes, this is not a joke - a person was backing up, looking back and still drove into an obstacle. He could easily say that I drove into him. And without a registrar, it would be extremely difficult for me to prove the opposite.

The second incident happened very recently. The comrade decided to quickly slip (it seems that this is the favorite word of the Russian motorist) between my car and the cars parked along the road, not letting me go along my lane and not changing it. Here the situation, of course, is simpler, but just one video viewing eliminates long and dreary verbal explanations of who is right and who is wrong.

However, all this applies to the DVR, which shoots forward. Everything is clear here. But why the rear camera? What is she filming?

I don’t think that the people of Russia need to be convinced that truly incredible things often happen on our roads. And, if you suddenly become a member of them, it is better to have something more significant than a suspended tongue or the gift of persuasion of traffic police officers.

In short, the camera of the Mio MiVue A30 captures the aggressive and inappropriate driving of cars moving behind.

The scoundrel can be captured on video even on the approach and before the incident itself. Even if the event was recorded on the front camera indistinctly and the situation can be interpreted in different ways, then the recording from the rear camera will dot the and. For example, how the character began to do something unintelligible on the road in advance.

And one thing is aggressive driving, another is auto-settings, which, as a rule, are arranged correctly. I am sure that the characters who trade in such things keep their own statistics, in which everyone has DVRs, but in the back in 98% of cases there is a blind spot. This is exactly what such characters clearly do not expect.

Good. What's up with the camera?

To be honest, I thought the camera came in some kind of bag. Still, this is not a DVR, but only an addition to it, an accessory. I was wrong. The Mio MiVue A30 camera is packed in a separate, beautiful box. Everything is grown-up.

Inside there is the most necessary: a Y-shaped wire with three plugs and a Micro USB cable for 5 meters for laying around the cabin.

One end of the first wire is connected to the DVR, the second is connected to the main power cable (included), and the third is an adapter for connecting a long wire to it.

And immediately minus.

The cross section of this triple wire is very thick.

Yes, this is good from the point of view of reliability, it will not fray over time. However, this is not the wire that you constantly fiddle with. I tucked it under the skin and forgot, but in this case it will not be easy to do this, because the section is really very thick - you need to collective farm something, somehow lay the whole thing on the glass, and there are no accessories, clamps or clamps for this in the kit.

A 5-meter wire is laid through the cabin easily. You don’t need very direct hands for this, so you don’t need to go to the service - you can handle it yourself, I believe in you.

It took me about 30 minutes to connect and install, and this despite the fact that I photographed the whole process, chose angles and so on. So expect a 15-20 minute install for a regular sedan/hatchback, no frills in terms of upholstery.

By the way, in my case, there were about 1.5 meters of extra wire left, so without thinking twice, I put the rest under the roof sheathing - there is a lot of space, you can stuff all 10 meters.

I fixed the camera itself directly on the rear window. The double sided tape on the backing holds it in place nicely at the back. It is better not to attach the device to plastic - it is guaranteed to peel off in a couple of minutes.

By the way, it is very convenient that there is an adjusting washer right on the substrate - it allows you to rotate the camera lens at the desired angle. You can glue the camera and only then adjust the desired viewing angle due to this very washer.

Further, the procedure is extremely simple - you insert the cable from the DVR into the cigarette lighter, turn the key (for me) turn on the power supply of the car's on-board network and you're done. On the screen of the registrar, an inscription immediately appears that recording has begun from two cameras. Everything is extremely simple and clear, you do not need to configure anything at all.

How is the quality?

The rear camera of the Mio MiVue A30 records video at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second by default.

The quality is decent - in the daytime the numbers behind the passing cars are visible from a distance of 10-15 meters - this is quite enough.

However, look at the example yourself.

At night, visibility is expected to deteriorate to 10 meters, no more. However, license plates of cars from behind can be seen even through the dipped headlights.

Video recording comes with sound - the sound is recorded on both video files (from the front and rear cameras) by the microphone of the registrar itself.

By the way, when buying a Mio MiVue A30 rear view camera, we will definitely buy a larger USB flash drive. 8 GB will be extremely small - half an hour and the recording will go in a circle, erasing all previously saved videos. It is not good.

If anything, a three-minute video takes up about 330 MB of space. We add to it about the same amount from the front camera and we get 600 MB of occupied space on the card. And it's only 3 minutes of recording.

Specifications Mio MiVue A30

Outcome

The MiVue A30 camera did a great job. Easy installation good quality video and decent functionality (paired with a branded DVR and nothing else). Confused by only one thing - the price. Now you can buy MiVue A30 for 4,990 rubles. A bit expensive, especially against the background of the DVR, which itself is not much more expensive - 7-8 thousand rubles.

On the other hand, with such a gadget in the car, it is much calmer on the roads. Well, in which case (God forbid!) the MiVue A30 camera will help to get a complete picture of what happened. You know what miracles regularly occur on our roads.

In any case, it's worth considering.

Mio VixCam C10 review

Equipment

Mio VixCam C10 comes in a compact bright orange box made of thick cardboard with a description of the features and links to download the application. The package includes setup instructions, warranty card, metal wall mount, a set of dowels, a power supply and the camera itself.

Appearance

In design, the Mio VixCam C10 follows a style familiar from DVRs. Smooth lines, a minimum of sharp corners and edges.

The main color is white, it attracts a minimum of attention when installed on the ceiling, and on the wall, and just on the bookshelf.

Appearance Mio VixCam C10

The case is very compact, especially when compared with the cameras that we are already accustomed to seeing around the perimeter of buildings.

By the way, the mount here deserves special attention. One of the most convenient ways among cameras tested in 2017. The base of the leg is magnetic, it is attached to any metal surface.

The kit includes a metal plate with a round shape, with which the mount is installed in the desired place. Installing and removing the camera will be easy. Fastens securely, does not spontaneously shift.

The leg with a hinge allows you to change the angle of inclination and rotate it around the axis, choosing the desired shooting angle.

The body of Mio VixCam C10 is rounded. The assembly is of high quality, all the elements are tightly fitted to each other. On the reverse side speaker grille used for voice communications and alerts. The volume level is sufficient.

The front side is almost completely occupied by the camera block. Along the perimeter of the lens, a group of IR diodes for night shooting is displayed, activated automatically using data from the light sensor. Below the microphone hole.

The camera does not have external antennas, network ports, everything was hidden inside the case. Looking ahead, we note that the reception quality was not negatively affected. Only the micro USB port used for power supply is available.

The complete power adapter comes with an extended cable length, which makes it possible to install the camera remotely from the outlet. Using micro USB does not make it difficult to find alternative power sources and connection methods.

Mount Mio VixCam C10

There is also a slot for a micro SD memory card with support for high-capacity drives.

Tests

You will need to download the MioSmart app before connecting and activating. An account is created that can be accessed from multiple devices if necessary. Adding a camera is done by simply scanning a QR code hidden under the leg. To work in local network and remote access, the password for the wireless connection is entered. Within one application, you can deploy a group of such cameras so as not to get lost between them, a name is assigned (for example, the installation location).

Mio VixCam C10 App

The main window displays a block with an image from Mio VixCam C10 and several control buttons. Viewing the image in the stream, viewing videos from the archive, settings.

Having opened the player, we observe the streaming image from the selected camera. Here you can rotate it, enable / disable night mode, take a photo and activate video recording.

Enabled in settings security system, which detects movement in the shooting area. When it appears, alarm notifications will be sent, the activity of which is selected manually. Each such movement can be recorded in short videos. So, if an intruder steals the camera itself, the owner will always have access to all records from the cloud.

Judging by the official website, after the camera, external sensors will also appear: a motion detector and sensors on the door / window. As a result, with a modest investment, an advanced security system with remote access is deployed.

The application is intuitive, it is easy to understand the controls. It has already been translated into Russian.

The camera shoots in HD resolution, the golden mean between the level of detail and the space occupied by one video. At the same time, videos from Mio VixCam C10 will allow you to get an idea of what is happening in the room in detail and, if necessary, fix the face of the intruder.
