It so happened that one day, when Mr. N was spending his time in one of the archives in search of some materials, he accidentally found a note in a certain newspaper, starting to read it, he could not stop, he was so interested in his subject and point of view on this subject stated in the note. Mr. N re-read the note three times. And although quite a lot of time has passed since the writing of the article, he nevertheless decided to write to the author. It turned out to be a big problem to find out who the author was, since the note was signed with only one letter. But Mr. N was a persistent man. His search was crowned with success, and he managed to find out that the author of the article that interested him so much was called Raskolnikov Rodion Romanovich.
I'm afraid I can't tell here the story of how the author of the letter was looking for Mr. Raskolnikov's address. I also do not know whether the letter reached the recipient or was lost somewhere. But I can quote the text of the letter itself, which I do below.
Hello, dear Rodion Romanovich!
But, what I was trying to make out now, the questions are all superficial, since I caught a much deeper meaning in your article. After all, with your article you are bringing a real split into the established concepts and opinions of the public.
I speak with apprehension about such lofty matters, but I will try to express my thought most carefully so as not to offend anyone. What is the main idea of Christianity? - Love thy neighbour. AS A CONCLUSION
It cannot be denied that Raskolnikov is a speaking surname. The question is this - what is Rodion Romanovich splitting into? In the dogmas of that time, in the Christian idea, in the skull of an old woman or in the relationship of people?
It seems to me most likely that F.M. Dostoevsky could not be so cruel as to burden his hero with murder and all subsequent suffering for no reason at all. Therefore, Raskolnikov's idea of people of two categories is, as it were, a provocative idea based on the denial of the vulgarization of the idea of Christianity. See how your theory works today. And, to put it bluntly, this is your fault. Of course, you can tell me that your thoughts were far from senseless actions, but you also committed a crime. And it cannot be justified by any reason. Since each of us, people, has our own life, our own thoughts, love, dreams, family. And for everyone it is very expensive.
Someone in this life accomplished a feat - saved the life of another person. Someone made a discovery in science. Someone has achieved fame all over the world, creating paintings, works of art, music.
