Instructions for setting up an optical router: gpon router from mgts. GPON routers: characteristics, connection, settings Fiber optic router Rostelecom

Until recently, fiber-optic communication was not in demand and was considered a kind of luxury. Now, due to GPON routers, this problem has begun to be solved. For just a small amount, many providers are ready to provide a fiber optic network for any room: apartment or office.

How does a router work?

Due to GPON networks, which are passive, the router has a traffic speed of no more than 2.5 Gbps, which is considered quite high for ordinary user the Internet. All applications and resources with this signaling work with lightning speed. That is why many users want to purchase this species router. Unfortunately, most of the owners end up with a lot of problems, which we will talk about next.

Model Disadvantages

All providers can supply their users not only with the Internet, but also with modems that will ensure signal reception at the best level. But almost all of them have a serious drawback. The routers do not support WiFi wireless networking. GPON routers are often produced with this disadvantage, so, as a rule, many people have this problem. The differences between the models are in the name and appearance.

Of course, you can find modems that work with the wireless module, but they are much more expensive. Moreover, the use of such providers is simply unprofitable. Every subscriber wants top speed With minimal cost, so it will be more profitable to work with the option offered by the Internet company.

MGTS GPON routers

Ideally, in such a situation it is better to use It is a universal device that combines several devices at once. We are talking about a GPON modem, a NAT router, a 4-port switch, an access point and a Voip gateway.

What does the user ultimately get from using the MGTS device? It can not only work with the Internet at great speed, but also create an access point.

Setting up a GPON router

MGTS type routers work on approximately the same principles, so they are easily and similarly configured, even if they are from different manufacturers. The only differences that the consumer may encounter are a different interface and menu name.

As already mentioned above, GPON modems- one of the fastest options, so they need to be properly configured. First you need to connect the device using a twisted pair cable (it is usually supplied) to the computer. Next, go to the control panel, after going to the network address 192.168.1.1. It is also written on the device itself and on the box. A menu will open in which you must enter your username and password. They are identical - the word admin.

Not all MGTS GPON routers support an interface in Russian. Therefore, you often have to either immediately install another firmware or change the parameters in English.

Immediately you need to change the password from the MGTS GPON modem. To do this, go to the "Administration" section, there will be an "Administrator" menu. Unfortunately, it is impossible to change the login and account name, the password is allowed. This should be done for security reasons. The owner will see the line "Old password", in which he needs to enter a combination of letters, as well as the next two, which are already responsible for the new code. Next, click on "Submit". The device will automatically reboot. The user will need to log into the control panel again with a new password.

In order to work with a wireless connection, you must enter the "Networks" menu. Next, in the "Select SSID" column, you must enter the number of networks. To activate the wireless signal mode, check the box next to the "Enable SSID" entry. The maximum connection to the network must be set in the "Maximum clients" column. Next, the owner needs to pay attention to the "Name" column, which indicates the name of the access point. If you want to hide your network, then you need to activate the "Hide SSID" option.

Configuring Ports and Wireless Security

Everyone knows that an unpassworded wireless access point is a great success with all neighbors who have problems with the Internet or devices for distributing it. How do such gifts end for everyone? The speed drops dramatically and traffic is consumed. That is why you need to put a password on your access point.

To do this, go to the "Protection" menu. There, the owner will have to select the number of the network that he plans to secure with a password. In the appropriate column, you need to enter your combination. It must contain at least 8 characters. Of course, like any other password, it can only contain characters from the Latin alphabet and numbers.

When choosing encryption, it is better to install WPA2. When it works, it is almost impossible to hack the access point, of course, if the password is really complex.

Port forwarding

If the owner plays online games on suspicious resources and works with torrents, then he needs to make a MGTS GPON router. To do this, go to the "Port Forwarding" section, then to "Applications". After that, you need to enable this option with the "Activation" button and fill in all the required fields.

The only difficulty that the owner may experience is the choice of protocol. For the correct selection, you will have to find out with which application the application works. If, nevertheless, the difficulties do not disappear, it is better to forward several ports at once.

In most cases, telecom operators providing Internet access using ADSL technology give subscribers the simplest modems: single-port and without a wireless communication module. For example, Rostelecom. This was quite enough to give access to the global web to one computer or laptop.
But now every apartment has a smartphone or tablet, and smart TVs and PlayStation and XBox game consoles are also common. Therefore, the need for Wi-Fi sharply arises and the question arises - how to organize it? You can, of course, buy another modem with a built-in wireless module. There is another option - connect wifi router to the ADSL modem. How to do it? Very simple!
Choose one of the two schemes below and act!

1. The Internet distributes the router

This is the most correct way in all respects, but it is laborious. First you need to configure the modem in bridge (bridge) mode.

Now they need to be correctly connected according to the scheme LAN port of the ADSL modem -> WAN port of the router.

Next, on the Wi-Fi router, you need to set up an Internet connection. As a rule, this is a PPPoE connection. As a result, he will be the main one in this bunch of devices, being responsible for connecting to the provider and for the wireless network.

2. Router as an access point

This is an easier setup option. It’s just that you don’t need to change the modem configuration parameters - it distributed the Internet via cable, so it will be. The router in this case will act as a simple switch with a WiFi access point. To do this, you must first prepare it.
First, disable DHCP seover. This role will be played by the modem.

Secondly, you need to check if the IP address of the router matches the ADSL modem, since IP is usually used or they can match. In this case, the router in the LAN settings needs to change the IP address to any other in this network.

All the necessary settings have been made, now you need to correctly connect the ADSL modem and the Wi-Fi router with a network cable according to the LAN-LAN scheme:

That is, the WAN port of the router (aka “Internet” on some models) remains unused, since with this scheme it actually global network it does not connect itself and all the functions associated with this are not needed and are not used.
You can check your work.

P.S.:
Modern GPON technology, which uses passive optical networks, differs little in the principle of operation of end user terminals - they can also operate in bridge mode and in router mode. This means that both of the above schemes are applicable to them. The only exception is that in most cases you will not be able to reconfigure the terminal from one mode to another on your own, as this is done remotely by technical support. Otherwise, all actions are identical "one to one".

The optical terminal Huawei HG8245 or its full name EchoLife HG8245 is provided by Rostelecom when connecting the Internet or interactive television via the GPON optical network. In this article, I will tell you its characteristics, its pros and cons, and how to set up wi-fi. HG8245 provides 2 POTS (telephony) ports, four Ethernet ports and one wi-fi port. The Ethernet ports of the HG8245 are Gigabit, you just need to take into account that for a connection above 100 Mbps, you need a gigabit network card in your computer. When connecting interactive television, the LAN3 and LAN4 ports are usually configured for IPTV, but it is better to check with the provider. If you need to connect more than 2 set-top boxes, then the provider can also set up LAN2 for IPTV, and the Internet will go from the first port and via wi-fi. Quite often, Rostelecom subscribers are faced with such a problem: the TV set-top box asks for a login password, although it was previously activated and worked fine. This happens when they switch to another lan port patchcord from the set-top box. You can also activate the sip service - telephony for it in the HG8245 2 ports are allocated.

From the end of the HG8245 there is a wi-fi disable / enable button, a wps button, a reset button (factory reset). And two connectors one USB - apparently for the FTP channel. And a BBU connector for connecting an external backup battery, used for backup power for battery monitoring. There is even an item in the menu interface for monitoring the battery.

A little about the indicators on huawei hg8245. power- solid green - power on, solid orange - power from backup battery. Pon- lights up green - the signal is stable, there is synchronization, blinks green - there is no synchronization, the signal is not stable. Los lights up red - there is no signal, there may be a break on the line. LAN1-LAN4 lights up green - an add-on device or a PC is connected to the device. Wlan lit green - wi-fi is on.

And so now let's start setting up wi-fi on the huawei HG8245 terminal.

1. You need to go to the address 192.168.100.1 (If it does not open, try to register the IP address 192.168.100.2 gateway 192.168.100.1 on the network card)

2. Login - root Password - admin. There is also an option telecomadmin admintelecom with more advanced administrator rights.

3. Here you should open a window with the created interfaces for TV and the Internet, I don’t have anything like that, the terminal is only out of the box, so the window is like this.

4. Click on the WLAN tab, if you wish, you can change the SSID name. To set a password, you need to open the Authentication Mode drop-down menu and select WPA / WPA2

5. The password is written in the WPA Pre-SharedKey item. To see what you write, uncheck hide. Then save with the apply button.

The range of the wi-fi zone of the HG8245 is quite small, it depends on the thickness of the walls in the apartment and the number of wi-fi networks around you. Cable connection is certainly more reliable than wi-fi, and wi-fi at these terminals is quite easy to crack with more desire and knowledge) To disable wf-fi, you need to uncheck enable SSID

P.S. New huawei hg8245h white terminals have appeared, with an optical wire connection from below. Often there are questions about how to disconnect the optical cable from the terminal. I answer - it's very simple, you need to pull the part of the connector that is near the connector towards you. Here is the screenshot.

This terminal also has 4Lan ports, two of which are configured for the Internet, these are the first two and the 3rd 4th for interactive television. The interface input of this terminal is the same as that of HG8245.

P.S.S If you are interested in the complete configuration of this terminal, then you are here.

Fiber is finally coming to every home. Goodbye slow speeds, high ping and DSL modem freezes. PON technology in terms of reliability, somewhere at the level of "Set it - forgot it." In this manual, the Talmud contains fresh and up-to-date information on the Huawei HG8245H terminal.

Huawei is one of two networking monsters that have proven to be profitable in the networking market, along with Cisco. The American company also has a huge market in the Russian Federation, thanks to its excellent quality and a huge base of system integrators. The Cisco partner in Russia is organizing projects to build SCS in various business areas. Rostelecom, by the way, also actively uses Cisco equipment at the aggregation level.

ATTENTION! IMPORTANT INFORMATION! On 09/02/2015, 8245H terminals were updated on Rostelecom networks due to problems with the Wi-Fi network for subscribers (small coverage radius). The firmware remained the same - S106. But, perhaps, they covered the loophole with the superuser. Meanwhile, who had the S122 firmware continue to work normally.

Configuring HG8245H

Before you start! IMPORTANT! To configure services yourself, you need to know the VLAN ID of each of them! If you have not yet reset the terminal settings to factory reset, then they are in the menu item WAN -> WAN configuration. It is also worth considering that the settings are available only in super-user mode (how to log in through such an account is described in the section "Firmware"). If you still cannot configure the terminal yourself, then just call 8 800 100 08 00 and inform about the need to reactivate your services (this makes technical support 2 levels). After this is done (usually done on the same day) - all settings will be on the terminal again.

1. Internet settings

View Settings

On the menu WAN -> WAN Configuration press the button New:

Explanation:

2. 802.1p is a priority. For the Internet service, by default, it should be 0

4. A tick on the SSID1 item means that the Internet will work via Wi-Fi. Accordingly, if you do not need the Internet for wireless network- you can not check the box

2. Setting for IP-TV

View Settings

On the menu WAN -> WAN Configuration press the button new. Next, set the parameters as in the picture below:

Explanation:

1. VLAN ID, as mentioned above, you most likely have your own. With the fact that in the picture the Internet will not work for you.

2. 802.1p is a priority. For the IP-TV service, by default, there should be a maximum, i.e. 7

3. If you have not one, but several receivers, check the boxes in the Binding Options item according to the number of set-top boxes, i.e. if one, then only LAN4, if two, then check the boxes for LAN3 and LAN4, if three - LAN2, LAN3, LAN4

3. Setting for telephony

View Settings

Telephony settings cannot be made without a special password that registers the SIP protocol. It fits on the menu. Voice -> Voice Basic Configuration and no one, especially the technical support of the provider, will tell you. Therefore, it is not possible to set up telephony on your own.

4. How to make it possible to use all ports for the Internet?

View Settings

To do this, go to the menu item LAN -> LAN Port Work Mode and check all boxes. Then, when editing or creating a WAN connection, Internet services in the menu Binding Options also check the boxes for those ports that are needed for the Internet, respectively.

5. How to do port forwarding?

View Settings

Gotta go to Forward Rules -> Port Mapping Configuration. Click NEW. wan name- select the Internet service, External Start Port- [port number], Internal Start Port[port#], Internal Host- internal IP address of the host, Protocol - TCP, External end port- [port number], Internal end port- [port number], Enable Port Mapping- tick the box. Click apply.

Problem with speed or WI-FI access

If one of your devices is not giving desired speed or cannot connect to the Wi-Fi access point of the optical terminal, then you should do the following:

1. Enable WWM mode

WLAN and select on the left WLAN Basic Configuration:

2. Set the channel width to 40Mhz

To do this, go to the terminal settings at 192.168.100.1 (username is root, password is admin). Next, go to the menu WLAN and select on the left WLAN Advanced Configuration:

Finding an item Channel Width and set the item 40MHz:

3. Set the radio channel manually + select the region.

To do this, go to the terminal settings at 192.168.100.1 (username is root, password is admin). Next, go to the menu WLAN and select on the left WLAN Advanced Configuration. On the menu Channel choose a number 6, on the menu Regulatory Domain - Russia. Click apply

4. Disable encryption.

Optical terminals have the property of "moping", for no particular reason, to specific devices (laptops, phones). Therefore, if your device stubbornly cannot connect (or connects without access to the Internet), then you should try disabling encryption.

To do this, go to the terminal settings at 192.168.100.1 (username is root, password is admin). Next, go to the menu WLAN and select on the left WLAN Basic Configuration. In field Authentication mode choose open. Click apply

If this method helped, then you still need to think about protection. Another method of protection involves filtering by mac-address. There is a menu item for this. Security -> Mac Filter Configuration. There in the line Filter Mode we choose Whitelist. And we enter the MAC addresses of devices that will be allowed to access the Internet from this access point.

Firmware HG8245H

The problem of flashing this terminal from HG8245 without letter values is that the telnet functionality was greatly reduced - there is no access to the shell. Therefore, it is not possible to “pull out” the superadmin password from the config in order to download the firmware. The only way to flash hg8245h will be if the standard password from the developers is suitable (see below)

Why flash the terminal? This can help with issues such as:

1. Low speed access

2. Unstable operation of the terminal

3. Unstable Wi-Fi

4. Superadmin rights for fine tuning.

0. Start

We look at the current firmware version in the menu Status -> Device Information

Screenshot

1. Download firmware

At the time of writing, the latest firmware version is HG8245HV300R013C10SPC122

2. We go to the terminal under the superuser.

The standard root / admin account will not give us the opportunity to download a new firmware - there simply will not be such an item. Therefore, we need the rights of the so-called. super admin. I came up with a bunch of login / password - telecomadmin/
NWTF5x%RaK8mVbD. We drive in this data on the authorization page at the address 192.168.100.1

If the login and password data did not fit, try the following combinations:

Logins and passwords

telecomadmin\admintelecom
telecomadmin\NWTF5x%RaK8mVbD
telecomadmin\NWTF5x%
telecomadmin\nE7jA%5m
root\admin

If no password matches, try to "get" the password via telnet, if it is not blocked on the terminal:
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=557472&st=760#entry42667933

3. Save the terminal configuration to a file.

Why is this needed? The fact is that after the firmware, the terminal settings will be reset to the factory settings. Setting up the terminal on your own will be very problematic without the data that only the provider can provide, which certainly will not be happy that you are digging into the inside of the device. Thus, by saving the HG8245H config, we make a kind of backup of all settings. The file is saved already under the superuser (see point 1)

We go to the menu System Tools -> Configuration File. Next, press the button Download Configuration File

4. Download new firmware

Attention! It is recommended to carry out this operation by connecting the terminal and PC/laptop with a wire (via LAN1). Do not flash the device over Wi-Fi.

We go to System Tools -> Firmware Upgrade. We press the button Browse and select our previously unpacked firmware.

5. Restoring the performance of services (loading the config)

If after flashing your services stopped working, then you need to download the configuration file that we saved earlier (see point 2). You need to restore the configuration from under the superuser. So when typing 192.168.100.1, we enter the login / password again - telecomadmin/
NWTF5x%RaK8mVbD. We go to the menu System Tools -> Configuration File. Next, press the button Browse at the bottom of the page near the field configuration file. Select the desired file and then click Upgrade Configuration File

Telnet can be enabled in the tab Security -> ONT Access Control Configuration. It can only be enabled as a superuser. It is worth considering that in the HG8245H model, telnet was seriously cut down, there is no longer access to the shell.
