LEGEND
Go on a hunt for legendary masks and ancient artifacts with LEGO Bionicle! The already familiar team of six valiant Toa heroes embarks on a new adventure on the island of Okoto. This time they have to find the mysterious Totem Animals, such as the graceful Akida, as well as the ancient shrines of the masks they guard. But not everything is so simple: the forces of darkness lie in wait at every step! Therefore, it is necessary to enter into an alliance with the Totem Animals without wasting a minute and, by joining forces, fight evil!
PACKAGE
Inspired by the mystical atmosphere of the LEGO Bionicle series, this small hexagonal package features LEGO 71302 Akida, the Water Totem Animal, in its natural habitat, the underwater world of the small island archipelago on the east coast of Okoto. From below it is attacked by a dangerous enemy - a trap spider.
On the reverse side The box presents the functionality of both models included in the set (Akida and spider).
APPEARANCE
Akida sets a record for the number of parts among all "impulse sets": as many as 120 pieces. All parts inside the box are packaged in two small packages. Undoubtedly, this is the most original and special model among all sets of the second generation of LEGO Bionicle. Unusual characters in this universe are usually birds, beasts or arachnids, but the underwater creature is truly new. The Totem Animal has a long tail that branches into two light blue fins. Exactly the same fins are located on the sides of the figure, right under the two six-barreled rapid shooters.
It is worth noting that the set includes a special round stand designed for the assembled figure of Akida.
Also an important part of the set is the Trap Spider, a new small-scale enemy, one of Umarak's minions. The little villain is equipped with long prongs that can close together to capture their prey. He moves through the water column thanks to a powerful propeller and four huge claws.
FUNCTIONS
What separates the Akida from the rest of the Totem Animals line, apart from the visuals, is the absence of the new triple gear mechanism. Instead, the two aforementioned six-shot machine guns rotate up and down in synchrony. It doesn't make much sense for a set alone, but this feature is simply indispensable in the team mode with the Toa (but more on that later). Also, when rotating rapid shooters, the shooting function is triggered: bullets fly in a hail directly at the enemy.
AN ASSOCIATION
One of the features of LEGO Bionicle sets throughout the existence of the series has been the assembly of combo models. In 2016, LEGO changed this line a little: new sets are combined to form a single figure. Akida has the ability to team up with Gali, her Toa patron. When the two characters merge, Akida will fit perfectly into the body structure of the Toa of Water, complementing her armor and equipment. And in accordance with the plot of the Legend, such a merger will make Gali an invincible warrior!
